Prayer for Our American Heroes and Nation

Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God . . .2 Corinthians 3:5 . . . Blessed are those whose strength is in you… They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. —Psalm 84:6/8

TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS: military
ETERNAL GOD, I know it is with Great Wisdom that we, those who stand in the Presence of YOU in Prayer, and who lift up those of our men and women to support them that we remain humble, for their sake…for YOU ALONE OH LORD GOD, is the source of all confidence, power, strength, endurance, protection, honor and GLORY. OH LORD, yes indeed, we encourage, we praise, we thank these special heroes for their service and devotion which all part and parcel of who YOU ARE as creator GOD. So, with this in our hearts and minds, OH GOD, we pray deeply that…in quietness and confidence shall be your strength…in the hearts of all our heroes. That they would know YOU in such a way as to not fear, not tremble, not worry about their lives, but to march forward in the ways of RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUSTICE for themselves, for their families, for their souls, for YOUR GLORY. And LORD, above all that we can ask and pray on this side of ETERNITY…we look eagerly to the day that they will stand before YOU and CLAIM, “CHRIST IS MY LORD”, “CHRIST IS MY KING”, “CHRIST IS MY SALVATION”, “CHRIST IS MY ATONEMENT” and now in the POWER that is YOURS ALONE, “CHRIST IS MY LIVE now and for ever more”…..AMEN and AMEN.

A Friend In Need

September 24, 2013

Not long ago my wife, Janet, and I bought a quantity of beef from a friend who raised cattle on a small farm. It was less expensive than meat from a grocery store, and we put it in the freezer to use throughout the coming months.

Then a terrible lightning storm cut power throughout our area. For the first 24 hours we were confident that the freezer would keep the meat frozen. But when the second day came with still no word of getting our power back, we began to be concerned.

We contacted Ted, a member of our Bible-study group, to see if he had any advice. He canceled an appointment he had and showed up at our doorstep with a generator to provide power for the freezer. We were thankful that Ted helped us, and we knew it was because of his love for Christ.

The old saying “a friend in need is a friend indeed” took on new meaning for us. John reminds us in 1 John 3:18, “My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” Sometimes this means inconveniencing ourselves to care for the interests of others or receiving that help when we ourselves are in need. After all Christ has done for us, it’s a blessing to be His hands and feet in loving one another.

Father, thank You for making me a part of Your
family by giving Your Son Jesus for me. Help me
to accept the care of others and also to serve them
out of gratitude and out of my love for You.
When we love Christ, we love others.

Read: 1 John 3:11-18

My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. —1 John 3:18

Heavenly Father,

We ask for strength in these times when all we seem to hear is bad news. We trust in Your love and give thanks to You for all that is good and positive in our lives. Please continue to watch over, bless, and keep safe our American heroes, ourselves, and our country. We humbly pray together as we show our unending love and gratitude for You and all the goodness that You embody.

In Jesus’ holy name, we pray.
Amen.
