“Haven’t we been assured that the immorality within the priesthood has been addressed and things are changing?”

According to the most recent pope, there is a gay lobby. I’m not really sure what that means or why it is allowed to exist. If there is a dating homo site too, well there is house-cleaning to do - or Christ will do it.

"Crack open your Bible and you might learn something. Have you honestly never read the Bible?"

Have Catholics never read the Bible?

1 Corinthians 5

It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father's wife. 2 And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you.

3 For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing. 4 When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus, 5 you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord.

6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7 Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.

11 But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? 13 God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”

The problem is the mentality of *Once a priest, always a priest*.

Based on the responses I get when I bring the issue up, not too many Catholics have a problem with hands that defiled boys and engaged in immorality to be lifted up as holy, in the mass, allegedly changing the host into the body and blood of Christ, and then serving communion to the parishioners.

Not touchy at all. I’m just being rational. If you know these things, then you know them.

“Instead of answers, insults.”

Nope. Just truths.

“When you cracked open your Bible, did you read this... and is it symbolic, or did Christ mean what He commanded?”

Your mistake is defining it as either/or.

“I ain’t seeing it in your reply.”

It doesn’t matter if you do. The fact that it is symbolic won’t change. Does that mean it is not about real churches? No. Would that make it less symbolic? No.

metmom, it’s a doctrine, not a mentality.

“Based on the responses I get when I bring the issue up, not too many Catholics have a problem with hands that defiled boys and engaged in immorality to be lifted up as holy, in the mass, allegedly changing the host into the body and blood of Christ, and then serving communion to the parishioners.”

You’re posting a complete falsehood there. I seriously doubt that you can back up the idea that Catholics would have no problem with a priest who molested children then saying Mass. Seriously, why would you make up such an obvious falsehood?

Do Protestant anti-Catholics have any conscience at all about lying about Catholics and what they believe?

**Have Catholics never read the Bible?**

General question insinuates that ALL Catholics have never read the Bible.

This is not true at all.

MANY Catholics have read the Bible just as MANY non-Catholics have read the Bible.

How would this go over in a post? — Have Protestants never read the Bible?

It would be wiped off the forum and I would be censored for saying something like that.

And why would a homosexual become a priest? For the same reason he would become a summer camp activities director, a wrestling coach, a youth minister, a Boy Scout leader, a juvenile drug counselor, a sports league coordinator: because he's attracted to boys, and that's where he can find them.

And that's the cycle...Altar boy gets recruited into the lifestyle...Altar boy has much help getting into seminary...Seminary produces queer priest...Priest is on the lookout for an altar boy...Cycle complete...

Soon we will have a much bigger playing field with the Boyscouts...

I am not just picking on the Catholic religion...It's just that your religion has set itself up so that it's so easy, right under everyone's noses...

I have experience almost first hand...I was a member of an Evangelical youth group...We had a group leader, early twenties...Little did I know that the guy was as queer as a football bat...

The guy would take us on all kinds of events...Roller skating was a big one...

He would buy us cigarettes and alcohol and encourage the boys and girls to get a lot friendlier than Christian kids should ever get...

We were unaware that this leader was recruiting one of our good friend into his lifestyle...Started when the kid was about 13...

Unfortunalty, the friend died of AIDS while in his late twenties...

His recruiter is still alive and I have trouble with that, and all who recruit innocent young boys into the queer lifestyle...

Homosexual men...are attracted to homosexual men, not boys. Pedophile, homosexual men are attracted to boys. I sure hope we’re not concluding that all homosexual men are pedophiles.

I would say that all if not most queers were recruited as kids, by an adult...

I would bet that if these adult queers are given the opportunity, your opinion may be proven wrong...

Luther complained mostly about the clergy’s greed - which would later be shown to be hypocritical considering his own choices in life as a Protestant.

So Luther was right, but he was just as bad (in your eyes)...Just wanted to clear that up...

The Catholic Church is THE Church. Christ isn’t ever removing anything from the Catholic Church because it is His bride.

That is a ridiculous statement because you guys admit there are tares along with the wheat in your Catholic religion...BUT as we Christians know, there are ZERO tares in the Body of Christ, His Bride...

I don't know how this could be quantified --- and I don't want to engage in slander against homosexual men in general, surely.

A lot of gay men's "Coming Out" stories --- this is a substantial autobiographical genre --- are congruent with the stories of the gay men I personally know best: they were molested, seduced or raped by older men.

So it seems that either "a great many" gay men will hit on an adolescent when they have the opportunity, OR there are just a mere handful of pederasts out there, who are rather overworked: I mean they must have each violated dozens or scores of boys.

So you’re claiming there are no sinners in your sect? Then how can YOU be there?

You might want to look up the definition of sinners and then tares...They are not the same...And your religion claims to be full of tares...

As most of us know, (cf. Michael Rose's book, "Goodbye, Good Men") there were seminaries in the 1970's and '80's that were notorious for recruiting gays and driving away normal men. I knew of one in the early '70's --- the Duns Scotus Franciscan college/seminary in Southfield, MI --- which fell into the control of a network of queer priests. The place eventually went bust (sexual and financial rot often goes hand in hand) and the property and buildings were eventually sold to a group called "Word of Faith Christian Center International" --- some kind of denomination in and of themselves, it seems. So it looks like Duns Scotus got totally corrupt, and then totally disappeared as a Catholic entity.

I don't think there's a seminary in the country where that could happen now. Catholic seminaries now have a rather rigorous vetting process for candidates to the priesthood.

My husband and I had a friend who was a youth counselor at a non-denom rescue mission. Had a cute, vibrant, intelligent wife and two nice teenage children, too. Got sexual with some of the kids he was counseling, marriage broke up, kids put into a state of emotional chaos.

There's so much hurt and pain out there. It blows your mind when you find out about it.
