Catholic Word of the Day: CALIXTINES, 03-18-13
CatholicReference.net ^ | 03-18-13 | Fr. John Hardon's Modern Catholic Dictionary

Featured Term (selected at random):

CALIXTINES

A party of Hussites, also called Utraquists, who contended that the laity must receive Communion under both species, i.e., under the form of bread and also from the chalice (calix). They received ecclesiastical approval at the Prague Compacts of 1433, eighteen years after the death of John Hus (1369-1415), a Bohemian priest who was condemned by the Council of Constance and burned at the stake for heresy. Not all Calixtines, however, were heretics. They could be Catholics who took advantage of the Church's concession to receive the chalice but also believed that Holy Communion under both forms was not necessary for salvation.

Meanwhile, over at DU, the liberal Catholic Word of the day is.... “Big Government”.

Let’s use that in a sentence.

You should always vote for Big Government because it helps the poor, just like the Church!

Then there were the Caseustines who called for an entirely new specie altogether, cheese, and demanded they receive daily Communion in the form of wine, cheese and crusty bread. But they were ruthlessly persecuted and most fled to France.

J/K, J/K! Forgive me Father.
