..excitingReally? What's exciting about it? It really won't make any difference in your life at all. Even if the new one is radically different than the old one, and no one in their right mind thinks that, it won't affect you or me in the least.

Did not think they would choose this fast, thought it would at least be a month, or so.The last pick was only 2 days, I believe.

I had an opportunity to go two Mays ago.
I loved it, the history is unbelievable.
Unfortunately very crowed, and there is no way to linger and look at the art, as everyone is sort of rushed along. You can linger a bit in the Chapel, but those guards will get you if you speak above a whisper.
We went to Peter’s Church, just as beautiful and only a handful of people.

I was shocked when my husband told me the news. I was expecting that we would havee to wait for at least four or five days.

“Why all the excitement about a new Pope?
Why all the excitement before a name is announced?”
Now Raindrop, don’t rain on everyone’s parade. Use your noodle as to why everyone is excited, in particular Catholics. History is being made. The world’s oldest Christian religion. Got it?

I’m hoping for Cardinal Raymond Burke.

If you ever go back I’d recommend the week before Christmas and stay through Midnight Mass.
I had the whole city to myself because pilgrims don’t show up until the 23rd and a lot of Italians are already on holiday.

Has there been any speculation regarding the number of people from other countries that are going to be missing their flat screen TV’s when they get home?

I remember being on FR the day Benedict was chosen. I’m not a Catholic, but anyone theologically literate was aware of Ratzinger. So I must admit, that was in fact pretty exciting.....

Im curious, what does it mean for the cardinals that didnt vote for the winner? I mean, if you believe the Holy Spirit picks the Pope and youre a cardinal that didnt vote for the winner, what doesnt that say about your spirituality?
I don't remember a case in Scripture where God relied on the democratic process. Selection of King Saul maybe, but that didn't work out very well.

Yes. he was from Poland. A vigorous, barrel chested athlete of a man who seemed to have a common touch about him.
I saw him at Living History Farms in Des Moines, IA when he visited the US. I'm not Catholic but I enjoyed the mass.
