GRESHAM, OR (February 7, 2013) - Customers who want to show support for religious freedom have been ringing up sales at the "Sweet Cakes" bakery in Gresham, where owner Aaron Klein refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.
Klein told KGW that he's sticking by his decision despite the complaint by a lesbian couple to the state that could bring him a $50,000 fine.
Labor and Industries Commissioner Brad Avakian says people who open their store to the public can't discriminate when customers come in to buy their goods.

IMO this is just one more instance of the gay militants targeting a Christian business. They have sued photographers and wedding venues successfully and will continue their war on Christians every chance they get. Everywhere we turn, our values are being challenged. Such a change from my childhood!
Will give the Commisssar Avakian a lesson in American free enterprise...
... freedom of religious conscience and the exercise thereof...

What happens to uppity politicians & bureaucrats when they decide they can lord the power of the office over the inalienable rights of "We the People..."
He didn’t reuse to sell goods to them. He simply refused to personally bake a cake for their “marriage”, implying his approval of their sin for his personal gain.
Bravo for Christians who “walk the walk,” in spite of being persecuted by the ungodly and their enforcers in government.
The fang-tooth man-hating feminazis are an angry bunch. Angry because they were rejected by men.

Why the h*** not? Businesses refuse service to people who come in shirtless or shoeless. A fancy restaurant can require proper attire. This is bogus.
Little by little, our freedoms are being taken away.
There’s a clear distinction here between this retailer and the people in the south who refused service to blacks in the 50s (and earlier). Here the cake maker is being charged with refusing to provide and produce a specific product. I have no doubt he would have no objection to baking these women a cake and even icing it but the conflict came when they wanted the custom cake to celebrate their union which to him was immoral. It would be like someone coming in and demanding that he create a custom cake of a pen*s and a vagi*a. I’m guessing he wouldn’t do that either. I hope his lawyers figure out that distinction.
Yes, I agree, they are deliberately targeting these businesses to try to “normalize” their perversion, or drive people who don’t agree with them out of the public square.
Still, I don’t know if refusing to serve them is the best response, because that just plays into their hands and lets the homos call in the strong arm of the courts to back them up. Instead, Christian businesses should serve them, just very poorly, like say, giving them a really drab and lackluster wedding cake. That way, the homos accomplish nothing and throw their money away at the same time :)
My labor is mine; and I can sell it, or not sell it, to anyone I choose.
Anything else is involuntary servitude.
Remember Chik-fil-A Day!
“Just say ‘NO’.”
And you can apply that to all of the crap the socialists try to ram down our throats.
The nost diseased aspect of Avakian's lying is that the 'commissioner' knows he is using a lie yet believes 'it doesn't matter since he's doing it 'for the common good'. We The People need to expose such lying, over and over, repeating the exercise every day in every way, in the hope that our dumbed down fellow Americans may begin to 'get it'.

Exactly. The guy doesn't make "gay" cakes. You can't force someone to make a product they don't offer. Try going to Ford, and force them to make you a Corvette.
What ever happened to the slogan, “ We have the right to refuse service to anyone”? Used to see those all over the place years ago. Where’d they go?
Went out with Jim Crow laws, I suppose.
Anyone who wants to be turned into a car has some serious mental issues.
My guess is that the lesbian who demanded that the baker decorate the cake had noticed the Christian symbols in the store and selected that store for that reason--there must be many other places in the Portland area where the baker would be happy to comply with her wishes.
What if a neo-Nazi went to a bakery whose owner was known to be Jewish and demanded that he decorate a cake for him honoring Hitler's birthday? Would the people who want to coerce the baker in this case be all for using the power of the state to force that hypothetical baker to comply?
As a native Oregonian, I can tell you that Commissioner Brad Avakian is an EXTREME liberal. I expect him to push this for everything he can get.
