Brethren, Peace be with all of you.
Rush Limbaughs recent criticism of Georgetown Universitys (a Catholic institution) law student Sandra Flukes stance in favor of the Obama Administrations conscience-violating contraception mandate, has charged the debate in such a way that our objections to the Administrations mandate will be more difficult to explain and sustain. Miss Fluke is now being portrayed as a victim and this portrayal will drown the debate into irrelevancies. Her newly-gained notoriety will obscure the gravity of this debate and the need for having it.
Miss Fluke advocates a strong mandate for financing personal (in)moral choices with tax payer dollars. She said that contraceptives may cost a woman thousands of dollars every year and that the public must pick up the tab one way or another.
I thought that feminism was all about recognizing the personal dignity of women, but why does that entail that society, by means of government money or mandates, underwrite their choices at the tune of thousands of dollars per person per year?
If you, man or woman, claim full responsibility for your choices, then pay for them yourself. Do you want to be considered a grown up? Then pay your own way and leave the rest of us with more money to meet our own responsibilities.
Its not that there isnt a very cheap, 100% safe alternative to thousands of dollars spent in contraceptives: its called ABSTINENCE and it is FREE.
If were told to keep our rosaries from their ovaries (or testicles for that matter), then we ought to be able to keep our wallets away from their gonads too.

This is why I have come to believe that not paying taxes is a moral obligation.
Often wondered what the ol’ “Render unto Caesar” thing was all about, guess Jesus didn’t mean taxes. Just looking for the correct interpretation.
So perceptive. I will attempt to file that away in my memory bank so that I can use it in debate!
Thank you!
Excellent, concise and right-on-the-money!
Jesus didn’t say he was in favor of it, just that you should obey the law, but you knew that already, right?
And thus, under the command of Jesus, we should obey, but you knew that already, right?
Just fun’n with you. We both know what Jesus wanted us to do.
Actually, I think Rush said everything you discussed, and then brought all the facts together to their logical conclusion - Ms Fluke is an airhead slut.
All the comments sections I have viewed (from Politico to the WaPo) are 90% favorable towards Rush’s characterization of Ms Fluke - in addition, everyone seems to be getting the correct perception of the story and that is that this gal wants the taxpayer to pay for her sexual activity, for her contraception and they are not buying it. So, I think Rush has done coonservatism a favor by drawing way more attention it would normally received simply because people are curious about the story.
Right on.
On one hand feminazis castigate any paternal system yet demand a paternal government take responsibility for their girly things.
When He said that, he asked them who's picture/image was on a coin. It was Caeser's. It was part of a way to try to trap Jesus into an untenable situation. They asked if it was OK to "render tribute" to Caeser, as there was a tax revolt going on. He wouldn't tell them to not pay the taxes the government was insisting on, but couldn't tell them to "render tribute/praise" upon a man. He called them hypocrites and told them that they should give Caeser what was his - the coined money, and give God whar was His - rendering of trubute/praise/worship.
