The Douay-Rheims Bible is an English translation of Jerome's Latin Vulgate Bible. "I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel" (Genesis 3: 15).
A commentary for the Douay-Rheims says "Ipsa, the woman; so divers of the fathers read this place, conformably to the Latin: others read it ipsum, viz., the seed. The sense is the same: for it is by her seed, Jesus Christ, that the woman crushes the serpent's head."

The word “Guadalupe” is a mixed Spanish/Arab word that means “river of the she-wolf”. Interesting, considering that Mary is the Mother of the Church, headquartered in Rome (mythologically founded by human children of a lupa, a she-wolf), on the Tiber River.
CS Lewis wrote that truth is truth, and while it was his conviction that Christianity revealed the "whole" truth, it was his contention that truth is so all-pervasive that even those religions and traditions outside the realm of Christianity would almost have invariably grasped and incorporated portions of it.
He used the analogy of an archaelogical dig. Some faiths may uncover fragments and remnants that, although they can only be truly understood in the context of their role in a comprehesive overview of the whole site, are nonetheless, in and of themselves, a genuine, partially revealed, component of the greater whole.

This was a mistranslation of the text, it was never she, but he, and has led to the veneration of Mary in the catholic church, she did not crush said but He, Jesus, the Creator of all did.
No mistranslation of the text. Catholics read it as “He,” referring to Christ also.
However, “He” had no human father; the line through which “He” descends from Eve flows solely through God and Mary, and not at all through Joseph. So while Christ is adored, Mary is not. She is “merely” venerated (in Latin, “dulia”) as the most holy of the Saints, and the mother of He who is to be adored (”latria”). In fact, the veneration of Mary is so special among the saints, that it is referred to as “hyperdulia,” meaning, “highest dulia,” or “above [mere] dulia.”
A lot of Catholics will deny that they pray “to” Mary. By denying this, they are denying that what they do is what modern, American Protestants mean by “pray”: They do not adore or worship her. They ask her intercession with Christ; in other words, that she join them in praying to Christ. The power is Christ’s, and Christ’s alone. The most common prayer “to” Mary ends like this: “Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.”
“Pray,” however, has a meaning which has become largely archaic in American English, meaning simply to “ask,” with no connotations of worship. In England, this usage was once so common as to be contracted: “I pray to thee,” has become, “Prithee.” But this use hasn’t completely disappeared in American English. A request to a court for a ruling is still called a “prayer” in many states. And so you will commonly read of prayers “to” the Blessed Virgin Mary... such as “pray for us,” “intercede for us,” and maybe even “obtain for us (from Christ) the graces.”

The Blessed Virgin Mary, by her title, Our Lady of Guadalupe, is the Patroness of Mexico and the Americas. On December 9, 1531, Our Lady appeared to Saint Juan Diego, an Indian Christian, whom she sent to the bishop with the request to build a Church in her honor on the hill where she appeared. The bishop asked Juan Diego for a sign to prove that the Virgin had appeared to him. Our Lady appeared to Juan Diego again on December 12 and promised that his uncle would be healed. She directed Juan Diego to gather a bouquet of roses that miraculously appeared on a bush nearby (roses do not bloom at this time of the year) to present to the bishop. Juan Diego gathered the roses in his tilma (cloak). When he opened his tilma before the bishop, the roses felt to the floor, and the bishop was amazed to see the miraculous image of the Mother of God imprinted on the cloak. The image persuaded the bishop to believe what Juan Diego had told him, and the Church was built.
This image, which almost immediately inspired the conversion to Christianity of many thousands of Indians, may still be seen in the Cathedral in Mexico City. Many believe that the fact that the image remains intact on a coarse fabric woven of a cactus-like plant that ordinarily deteriorates within a few years is further indication of the miraculous nature of the image. The symbolic significance of the image include Mary's complexion, which is similar to that of the Indians who were native to the region, her pregnancy, the gold stars adorning her blue mantle that representing the heavens, the purple tassels of her sash signifying royalty.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mystical rose, intercede for the Church, protect the Holy Father, help all who invoke you in their necessities. Since you are the ever Virgin Mary and Mother of the true God, obtain for us from your most holy Son the Grace of a firm faith and sure hope amid the bitterness of life, as well as an ardent love and the precious gift of final perseverance. Family Celebration
of the Feast of Our Lady of GuadalupeFor the dinner on this Feast day it would be appropriate to have a Mexican menu. This can be very simple -- for example, "build-your-own" tacos, which most children enjoy. Start with purchased taco shells, and provide a bowl of meat filling (hamburger seasoned with onions and chili powder -- from mild to very spicy as your family likes it), a bowl of shredded cheese, another of shredded lettuce. Or have chili soup with taco chips or corn chips.
If possible, decorate the table with a small potted poinsettia (a flower native to Mexico), along with the Advent wreath.
At mealtime, say the Angelus (in English or Spanish)
For night prayers pray the prayer (above) for Our Lady of Guadalupe, and say the Ave Maria -- in Spanish or English.
Include the "Hail Mary" prayer with the children's bedtime prayers tonight.

The fascinating thing is that there is no record of St. Peter, St. Paul, St. John, St. James or any of the original Apostles praying like this...or those Christians in the earliest centuries of the Church. Nor is there any instruction at all...amidst all the detailed instructions by Paul, Peter, John et al., in their letters to the first Christians...that they should seek intercession of saints who have died at all....NOT ONE IOTA.
Clearly—according to the direct historic record of the Apostles, the New Testament, that was not a part of Aspotolic prayer and practice.
St. Mary herself—as virtuous and blessed woman she surely is—is never even mentioned in the Bible after the 2nd Chapter of Acts.
If praying to saints is such an essential, important part of the Christian life, I wonder why Paul, Peter, John, James etc. forgot to mention it?
Perhaps they forgot to mention it for the same reason they forgot to mention sola scriptura.
