Catholic Word of the Day: EASTER, 11-29-11
http://www.catholicreference.net/ ^ | 11-29-11 | Fr. John Hardon's Modern Catholic Dictionary

Featured Term (selected at random):

EASTER

The day commemorating Christ's Resurrection from the dead. It is the greatest of all Christian festivals, having the central place in the liturgical year. It is the Christian feast linked with the Jewish Pasch. The exultant Alleluia is constantly repeated in the Mass and Divine Office, the Vidi Aquam replaces the Asperges, and the Regina Coeli the Angelus. The Easter season continues from Easter Sunday to Trinity Sunday inclusive. (Etym. Anglo-Saxon Eastre, Teutonic goddess of dawn and spring.)

All items in this dictionary are from Fr. John Hardon's Modern Catholic Dictionary, © Eternal Life. Used with permission.

TOPICS: Apologetics; Catholic; History; Theology
KEYWORDS: catholic; pasch; paschal
You won't see Easter in the new translations (other than the headings). You will see Pasch and paschal.

Did you see that the origin of the word is English....????......the new translations are true to the Hebrew and Greek and Latin.
