Now I hear that the JW's allow blood "components" -- what does that mean? They will take some of the blood but not donate any?

Sorry, JW is a cult. "Religions" that try to restrict contact with the outside world, while twisting biblical quotes for justification?
That bunch of homicidal cranks came close to killing my stepdaughter, with her crazy-azzed mother-in-law telling the doctor no emergency blood during a bad baby delivery, (Small woman, large baby), before we got there. If the doctor hadn't come back out to argue again...

It may be plasma? I'm not sure. But I am sure that the JW a total cult. When I became a JW it was because I was searching and thirsting and JW were all too willing to fill the void. Not knowing the bible, their indoctrination was fairly easy with me. They have rewritten their bible to suit their beliefs, of course. You are not allowed to read any religious material except theirs. You are to tell your family good bye if they don't except your beliefs, you do not stand up for the pledge of allegiance or to sing God Bless America and demon fear play a big part in their lives. Thank God I am now saved and have put the cult behind me but I still cringe whenever someone mentions JW conversion. Oh, and you are to report on one another (including your spouse) if someone is doing wrong according to their beliefs. Worst years of my life.

It means they’re allowed to take all the components of blood separately but not the entire thing itself. They’re underhanded hypocrites to no end. I still have some JW related issues I’m still working out with my shrink, and it’s been 10 years since I left that cult.

My elderly neighbor, one of Jehovah's Witnesses, without transfusion, had both hips replaced last year and has fared quite well.
Whoever this “Margo” is, in this letter to the editor, he/she seems singularly ignorant of the subject.

I used to work with 2 women who were JW. They would rather die than have a blood transfusion. I had a transfusion a couple of years ago after almost bleeding to death. They were horrified when they found out I had a transfusion.

If you wish to learn about the JW's and when they can take whole blood transfusions; learn which "components" of blood are allowed or banned based, not on the bible but, on how their govenerning body defines certain blood "components"; and learn the ever changing blood policy, I always encourage people to visit this site - http://www.ajwrb.org.
Unfortunately those in this destructive group have been trained to think that what is on this website is part of the devil and will close their minds to it. But maybe it might reach a few.

JW is a cult every bit as much as the Mormons. They don’t even celebrate a person’s birthday because “It’s not in the Bible and we only celebrate Jesus.”
