Catholic Word of the Day: COMMUNICATION OF PROPERTIES, 06-29-11
CatholicReference.net ^ | 06-29-11 | Fr. John Hardon's Modern Catholic Dictionary

Featured Term (selected at random):

COMMUNICATION OF PROPERTIES

Attributing to Christ two series of predicates, one divine and one human. Since we attribute properties and activities to one person, and since Christ is one person in two natures, we may attribute either divine or human qualities and actions to the same Christ. We may correctly say that Christ is God and that he is man, that God was born of Mary and that the infinite truth died on the Cross. However, only concrete names may be used in this way because abstract names "abstract" from the existence of something in a particular individual or person. It would be wrong, therefore, to say that Mary is the mother of the divinity.

TOPICS: Apologetics; Catholic; History; Theology
KEYWORDS: catholic; truegodandtrueman
Not about real estate -- but rather the two natures of Christ, divine and human at the same time.

Isn’t man’s nature inherently flawed?

This is talking about the nature of Christ. I would hope you wouldn’t be saying that His holy nature is flawed.

Do you believe that Christ is true God and true man at the same time?

I’m not saying His nature is flawed, but if is the same as man’s, how can it not be? Man is flawed isn’t he? This is one of the reasons I find it impossible to believe.

Christ’s nature was not flawed because at the same time her was human he was also God.

Second person of the Blessed Trinity.
