Read wikipedia on Crimen Solliciationis, find out what it actually is, and then come back and tell us it is “still in effect.”

lol. Read Wikipedia? The place where anyone can say anything?

Why not use your own God-given ability to read the printed word and peruse Crimen Sollicitationis yourself, paying particular attention to #11 and #13

CRIMEN SOLLICITATIONIS

And yes. CS is "still in effect," and it most certainly does prevent victims and their families from going to anyone other than a member of the church with the accusations, under penalty of excommunication.

This document is filled with astounding nuggets of ways to get around the truth. Check out #52...

"...In every way the judge is to remember that it is never right for him to bind the accused by an oath to tell the truth."

Say what??!!?? During these church proceedings the accused pedophile priest is NEVER to be bound to tell the truth? Does the same go for the victim?

What a racket. These people belong in jail. Why Roman Catholics aren't storming their churches to rid them of these men of Satan is a great puzzle for anyone with children or any sense of decency.

The true question of the hour....just as you've stated.

This has both confounded and amazed me that they have not. I can only assume that "fear" rules the hearts of the people in confronting not only their local churches but as well the Vatican itself. Though I do believe there are some who have passionately done so, they are not enough in number to bring about the needed results.

No different than our attempts to defeat Obama....it takes a majority. The catholic church is so large, and it's tenticles reach worldwide, that to clamp down on the leadership to do something far reaching seems close to impossible, especially since they have hidden and protected these individuals for so very long...and seemingly are trying to do this in a manner that still will protect those who are in high office....the Pope for one...who might have enabled and participated in keeping these individuals protected.

If Rome itself is party to this than surely fear would prevail among the members that if that wasindeed proven so then what would come of the Vatican and the leadership they have depended upon for what they believe. It would be shaken beyond measure and that is a pill to hard for many to swallow. So they will continue to sacrifice their children for the sake of those they choose to protect.

That's the RCC with it's intimidation and control tactics. These victims/families/friends should just walk away from this hell bent church and it's tactics as Jesus is waiting for them to learn of HIM/His Word.

In every way the judge is to remember that it is never right for him to bind the accused by an oath to tell the truth.

Right from the master of lies himself. There is no way, anyone with a mind of their own, would be a part of such deception.

Constantly repeating the falsehood that those who report these crimes to the police are excommunicated does not make it true. Remember that Crimen solliciationis was a secret instruction. Thus the laity would not know of this alleged provision. Furthermore, as anyone knows, the crimes of these priests have been reported all over the place. Show me one, just one, person who has been excommunicated for this.

Have you not heard of the Fifth Amendment of the United States Constitution:

…nor shall [any person] be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself…
Both Canon 1744 of the 1917 Code of Canon Law and the Fifth Amendment of the United States Constitution protect an accused against being compelled to testify against himself. Such a scandal that the Church has the same standards as the U.S. Constitution!
