WYCLIFISM

A heretical movement founded by John Wyclif (1328-84), parish priest of Lutterworth, Leicestershire, in England. His doctrines were disseminated by the "poor priests" who taught the people that authority to rule depends on moral virtue, the Bible alone contanis divine revelation, preaching is more important than the Mass and the sacraments, and the Pope has no primacy of jurisdiction. Condemned posthumously by the Council of Constance, Wyclifism persisted until the Reformation. Also known as Lollardism, it had its main impact in Bohemia, where John Hus used Wyclif's idea as a basis of religious belief and made deep inroads in the Catholic Church in Germany as a prelude to Protestantism.

“Your heresy of the day!”

Actually, it’s the “Catholic Word of the day”

I can understand your confusion, though :)

Perhaps your CWOD would be more widely enjoyed if you selected terms and topics that edified the whole of the Body of Christ...

-- Instead of those that invite controversy, and amplify schism...

Free suggestion only...

No flames...

The message Wycliffe taught resonated throughout the world, taking those who are the elect of Christ back to the real message of God, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, alone. His courage and intellect befuddled the Roman cult which of course had to pronounce him a heretic...the greatest badge of honor a Christian can wear. The real believers in Jesus Christ know that when Rome hates you, you are onto something good.

His [Wycliffe] doctrines were disseminated by the "poor priests" who taught:

What a heretic. ;O)

AMEN!

"Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men." -- Romans 12:17

This is the manner of true Christians like Wyycliffe. Rome repays them with more evil.

The only way to “edify the whole of the Body of Christ” is to rid it of idiotic heresies such as Lollardism. No flames.

Rome hated the man that made the book which exposed their lying doctrine and made it public.. (the Bible)...they hated him so much that dug up his bones and burned them,,then spread his ashes,, .. ..but the truth of Gods word makes beauty out of ashes . Praise God for the men like Wycliffe
