Read and weep. I know these are CINO's being surveyed for the most part, but what is the Church doing about it?

“But don’t raise the rainbow flag in celebration too quickly. There are two ways to read these numbers, says Stephen Schneck, director of the Institute for Policy Research and Catholic Studies at Catholic University, and an admitted opponent of same sex marriage.

Religion Dispatches quotes Schneck parsing the numbers in a PRRI sponsored teleconference:

“If Catholics that support civil unions are counted among those favoring same-sex marriage, then a majority of Catholics support same-sex marriage,” he said. “If, on the other hand, civil union supporters are counted among those who oppose same-sex marriage, then the majority of Catholics oppose same-sex marriage by 55 to 43 percent. It’s the possible swing group for both sides on this issue.”

Headline should be changed to read “Majority of U.S. Catholics backing gay rights, move to pro-gay, Protestant congregations.”

So, what’s the Pope gonna do about it?

Favoring “civil unions” is the same as favoring “same-sex ‘marrage’”, so that analysis doesn’t wash.

[Fifty-six percent of Catholics did not believe sexual relations between two adults of the same gender constituted a sin, compared to 46 percent of the general population.]

What Bible are they reading?

3000 people? Is that all? Where was it conducted? Was it conducted on Church-goers, or only cultural-Catholics?

Notice the general tone of the article is "The Church hierarchy needs to get hip with all the liberal Catholics because there are more of them and the Church is backwards unless it embraces queerness."

[Dillon said the poll is unlikely to sway the church hierarchy]

Well, I’d hope not. If there teachings are determined by polls, there is a serious problem.

I have a feeling this isn’t an accurate survey. What think you?

Of course it’s skewed, but if even 40% of “Catholics” think this way, there’s a horrendous problem. But the main problem is what the Church is going to do about it.

A lot of people who call themselves Catholic never miss a union meeting or liberal protest of some sort. But they only find their way to Church on Christmas and Easter.

I believe that has already been decided by Popes along the way.

BTW, why do you think people are flocking to the Catholic Church? They stand against these things while other denominations accept them.

Title: CCC Search Result - Paragraph # 2357
Keywords: -None-
Description: -None-
Body: 7 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved

Isn’t Nancy Pelosi a Catholic?

Seems like the description doesn’t mean much of anything these days.
