In His Own Words: A Radical Pro-Abortion President

When Barack Obama was running for President, he was described by some observers as one of the most radical candidates in the nation’s history in terms of support for abortion. Once in office, President Obama has done little to dispel that judgment. Even as the President is tracking to the middle on many issues, this is not the case when it comes to abortion.

This past Saturday, on the 38th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, the President issued a statement that is remarkable, even for presidents who support legalized abortion. The President’s statement included not one word that indicated any recognition that abortion is in any case or in any sense a tragedy. There was not even a passing reference to the unborn child. President Obama did not even use the language used disingenuously by President Bill Clinton — the pledge that abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare.”

“Today marks the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that protects women’s health and reproductive freedom, and affirms a fundamental principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters,” the President stated. That “fundamental principle” was not actually the principle claimed by the Supreme Court, which located the “right” to abortion with the woman, not with a family.

The President continued: “I am committed to protecting this constitutional right. I also remain committed to policies, initiatives, and programs that help prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant women and mothers, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption.” So, the President of the United States puts his high office behind his hope to “encourage healthy relationships,” but not behind any effort even to reduce the number of abortions in this country. Currently, in America one out of five pregnancies ends in abortion.

As he concluded his brief statement, the President said: “And on this anniversary, I hope that we will recommit ourselves more broadly to ensuring that our daughters have the same rights, the same freedoms, and the same opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.”

That paragraph is just a recitation of the feminist argument that was enshrined in Roe v. Wade — that women, no more than men, should be encumbered by the professional and personal limitations required by a pregnancy. That logic is enshrined as orthodoxy within the Democratic Party, and President Obama is one of its most ardent defenders.

Ever since Barack Obama emerged on the national political scene, he has been promoted and protected by a corps of preachers and religious leaders who have tried their best to explain that he is not so pro-abortion as he seems. Nevertheless, his record is all too clear — as is this most recent statement. There was not one expression of abortion as a national tragedy, even as a report recently indicated that almost 60 percent of all pregnancies among African American women in New York City end in abortion.

How can any President of the United States fail to address this unspeakable tragedy? There was no hope expressed that abortion would be rare, only the expression that he would remain “committed to protecting this constitutional right.” The only words that even insinuate any hypothetical reduction in abortion were addressed to reducing “unintended pregnancies” and promoting adoption. But no goal of reducing abortion was stated or even obliquely suggested. No reference at all was made of the unborn child. There was no lament — not even a throwaway line that would cost him nothing in terms of his support from abortion rights forces.

These words were not imposed upon this President. This is his own personal statement. It is one of the most revealing — and tragic — statements made by any political figure in our times.

I am getting sick and tired of listening to hysterical morons like the jack@$$ Barry Soetoro trot out the "Right" to privacy argument to put down any threat to womens' ability to murder their unborn children. Butchers like this purported Doctor - Kermit Gosnell - in Philadelphia have been shielded too long by the same pro-abortion clowns that scream for an end to the REAL Constitutional right to keep and bear arms when lunatics like Loughner unload a magazine on innocent citizens.

"American voters have got to realize his opposition to parental consent, his opposition to a ban on partial birth abortion and most troubling his opposition to the child born alive act," she said, referring to Obama’s four votes against a measure in the Illinois legislature that would provide medical care for newborns who survive failed abortions.

"But to withhold medical intervention for a baby who is born alive as a result of a botched abortion and to allow that child to die without the medical intervention that child deserves — it’s appalling to me and I think it should concern voters," she said.

Palin said it is "mild" to say that Obama’s pro-abortion record is "quite concerning."

Obama said the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion affirmed what he called a "fundamental principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters."

More than anything else 0bozo has said that shows how little he cares or knows about the Constitution and the principles it was founded upon.

Our Constitution was based on the principles expressed in the DoI and proceeds from that. It was not based on popular consensus or secular philosophies of law. Here are the relevant passages that define the direction and purpose of the Constitution.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, ..."

The principles of Constitutional law are right there.

~"all men are created equal"~ Religion and science agree that 'men' are created at conception.

~"with certain unalienable rights"~ Rights that exist whether they are recognized by government or not and cannot be taken away or given away.

~"that among these are Life, ..."~ Life is an unalienable right to be protected and the two, life and rights, arise together created as one.

~"That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, ..."~ There you have the only principle set forth, by our Founding documents, for instituting a government which is a set of secular laws. Government is not established on the basis of protecting secular laws and vague legal concepts like 'personhood.' Its sole purpose is to protect our rights.

If secular law defines things empirically then why would it ignore the empirical findings of science? The fact that life, completely and uniquely individual life, begins at conception is beyond scientific theory. It's an established observable irrefutable scientific fact.

Since both religious and scientific views agree that life begins at conception what system of thought and logic is secular law founded on that defines a "person" differently? It clearly does not come from any religious view. It does not come from any scientific view. It has no basis in our Founding principles and it has no basis in secular law, which is supposed to follow those principles, other than the arbitrary decision of Roe v. Wade.

Where does 0bama come up with this "fundamental principle?" Fundamental to what?

here is a story I am sending out right now written by my friend vickey

Here I am floating around in a moist dark area, just a tiny pollywog of
a shape short weeks ago. Now I wait to become an infant (or am I to

thoughts from my mother. I hear such words as “not really alive

inhaling my first breath of outside air? If you abort me I’ll never
see the smile upon your face nor feel the moistened salt of your tears
against my cheek as I (now a child) attempt to comfort you in your
sorrow. .....
For me there will be no hugs, no anticipation of joy, and no first love
will I know. I will never age and be a cantankerous old man or woman
or a kind one. The only anger I will know will be your destruction of
me.

I will never feel sand between my toes nor the ebbing away of ocean
water across my feet. I will never giggle over grass that tickles my
toes as I walk barefoot upon it. No hills or mountains will challenge
