Catholic Word of the Day: IMMODEST LOOKS, 01-18-11
CatholicReference.net ^ | 01-18-11 | Fr. John Hardon's Modern Catholic Dictionary

Featured Term (selected at random):

IMMODEST LOOKS

The conscious looking at a person, picture, or scene that arouses sexual feelings to which a person has no moral right or need to experience. Since sexual feelings are sacred, to which only married persons between themselves have a claim, deliberately to look at something in order to be sexually stimulated is a grave sin (Matthew 5:28).

Wow, in trying to understand the joke behind “Friar John Hardon” and “The utilitarian school of conjugal love”, I love put “the utilitarian school of conjugal love” into Google, and the only hit that came up was this exact thread, dated “37 minutes” ago. Is FR on Google’s web bot “go to” list? How exciting...

A real person who wrote a lot of books about Catholic theology—born 1914, died 2000, a Jesuit priest. I don’t know if he knew about the popular meaning of his surname.
