Pray Unceasingly: Perpetual Adoration as a Necessary Antidote to Abortion

The present title of our meditation can be shortened and simplified. It should read, "Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament and the Catholic Prolife Movement."
We have already spoken at length and in detail about the Holy Eucharist. Our focus has been to bring out the role of the Holy Eucharist in obtaining the graces we need to stem the tide of infant homicide and restore moral sanity in the modern world. As we reflected on the power of the Eucharist to achieve miracles, we kept insisting that these miracles will be performed by Our Lord only if we believe. Christ promised that those who believe will be able to move mountains by the divine power which Christ will exercise in their favor. But the condition set down by Christ is always, "If they believe."
What the Savior told His contemporaries He is telling us. The moving of mountains can be done only by God. He will do so provided we believe in His Omnipotence as the man of Nazareth who is our Incarnate God. Our present task will be to see how prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is, by all odds, the most powerful in moving the will of God to exercise His divine power. There is a profound logic to understanding how prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is so potent because it is inspired by such faith as no other prayer in human experience depends upon.
What are the depths of faith that underlie prayer before the Blessed Sacrament? They are nothing less than the four most profound mysteries of Christian revelation. When we pray before the Holy Eucharist, we profess our faith in the Incarnation of the Son of God; we profess our faith in the true humanity of Jesus Christ assumed by the Second Person of the Holy Trinity; we profess our faith in Christ's death on Calvary and Resurrection from the dead; and we profess our faith in the continued physical presence of the risen Christ on earth in our midst, ready to exercise the limits of His divine power in our favor, depending on the measure and depth of our faith in this quadrad of mysteries of Christianity.

Thank you for posting this article...my grandaughter is almost 7 and she receives Holy Communion this year...sitting in Church with her has become such a beautiful experience because there is so much to teach her about the Eucharist and faith. I try to attend Benediction often since the physical presence of Christ is so often underrated and the focus is so often on good works. The words during the Benediction ritual are inspiring and the focus is so direct.

Prayer for the Spread of Perpetual Adoration
Heavenly Father, increase our faith in the Real Presence of Your Son Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. We are obliged to adore Him, to give Him thanks and to make reparation for sins. We need your peace in our hearts and among nations. We need conversion from our sins and the mercy of Your forgiveness. May we obtain this through prayer and our union with the Eucharistic Lord. Please send down the Holy Spirit upon all peoples to give them the love, courage, strength and willingness to respond to the invitation to Eucharistic Adoration. We beseech You to spread Perpetual Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament in parishes around the world. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen

Wonderful prayer. I love it! I just got back from two hours at Adoration followed by Mass. It's getting so one hour just isn't enough, and since I have no strong obligations in other directions usually, I'm going to try hard to keep my sloth at bay and continue on Adoring. What a gift!!!
Also, I have always had a very strong devotion to praying for the dead, and have found images of purgatory to really take me away someplace else, and today I was reading about visions to St. Marie de St. Pierre in regard to The Holy Face of Jesus, and lo and behold, she was given a vision of Hell and the multitude of souls falling in, and was invited to pray for poor sinners, on Dec. 21, 1846. My birthday is Dec. 21, a few years later:). I thought it a signal grace.

And since this thread is on an antidote to abortion via Perpetual Adoration, I’ll add that St. Marie de St. Pierre was told by Our Lord (March 16, 1844), “Oh if you only knew what great merit you acquire by saying even once, ‘Admirable is the Name of God,’ in the spirit of reparation of blasphemy.” 3-16-78 is when mlizzy (Mary Elizabeth) went to heaven, eventually leaving her mother a sorrowful, regretful, tortured mess for decades. In the dictionary, it states blasphemy is a contemptuous or profane act. I think abortion would fit that description quite well. Another type of signal grace? for me (and mlizzy!) to keep fighting for the unborn.
