Of most others we know plenty detail and their works survived. Linus, most likely, was killed quickly as were most early popes.

Yes, it was a pastoral letter from one equal church to another, viz "The church of God which sojourns at Rome" to "the church of God sojourning at Corinth.

Clement had no direct authority over the church at Corinth.
