I pull any Religion Forum post containing potty language or references to potty language.

Why? "Because" is an acceptable answer I suppose, but why isn't it in the rules?

Even mild potty language in religious debate results in the next guy using a worse reference and so on. It quickly devolves and so I nip it in the bud.

Free Republic is a conservative forum and virtually all of the posters share conservative values. Liberals trying to post here are banished as trolls.

But conservatives can have strong disagreements among themselves on specific issues. Articles involving the Civil War (or 'war of Northern aggression') or creation v evolution or Apple v Microsoft or Pit Bulls Yes/No - often end up in the Smoky Backroom because the posters on both sides have strong opinions.

All the more so when the subject is religion. And to conservatives - freedom of religion, of speech and of assembly are very deeply held. Add to that that most conservatives are not atheists and the need for a Religion Forum is apparent and the special guidelines to handle the deeply held strong opinions being aired.

Why are the rules different in the Religion Forum?

To give the know-nothings an official means of eliminating posts that bring their ignorance, at best or their bald-face lies to light.
