U.S. military says Afghan bibles have been destroyed

KABUL | Tue May 5, 2009 4:15pm IST

KABUL (Reuters) - Bibles in Afghan languages sent to a U.S. soldier at a base in Afghanistan were confiscated and destroyed to ensure that troops did not breach regulations which forbid proselytising, a military spokeswoman said.

The U.S. military has denied its soldiers tried to convert Afghans to Christianity, after Qatar-based Al Jazeera television showed soldiers at a bible class on a base with a stack of bibles translated into the local Pashto and Dari languages.

"I can now confirm that the Bibles shown on Al Jazeera's clip were, in fact, collected by the chaplains and later destroyed. They were never distributed," spokeswoman Major Jennifer Willis said at Bagram air base, north of Kabul.

Obama is concerned about a private citizen destroying Quran’s and yet our own government destroys Bibles. Go figure.

Isn't it amazing! With all the uproar over Pastor Terry Jones' burning the Koran on 9/11/2010, our own military destroyed Afghan bibles in Afghanistan.

Some have called Pastor Jones a coward for not burning the Koran in a Middle-Eastern country rather than here in the United States. No, this man is not a coward. Pastor Jones knows the consequences; that he, his family and his entire congregation will now be under a fatwa (death sentence) That's what Muslims know how to do best!

Furthermore, if an American flag can be burned under Freedom of Speech, Pastor Jones has that same right to remind people of what happened on 9/11.

So by my count, Petraeus and his predecessors have burned far more bibles than the number of Korans that berk in Florida plans to burn. Just sayin'.

Question of the day: why did they destroy the bibles and not simply ship them back? where was the respect?

Without Jesus Christ and the Bible, our country, our republic, our visions, and our very lives would not exist!!
Don’t you think it is time to say it like it is.. If we keep glossing over the truth in order to pacify those who would have us dead in the name of some misplaced morality and turn our backs on the one who made it possible we are in for a world of hurt. The whole world knows Islam is barbaric, the whole world is acting like, oh no they might get mad, lets piss em off..and tell the truth, only Jesus Christ can save your soul and he does not recognize Mohammad as anything but a liar and a thief.. There that was said with love for the muslim people that they may repent of Islam and seek the true Christ, not the watered down one Mohammad presented Him as in His satanic stupors..

Can’t burn a Qu’ran because it upsets the Islamic Nation...

But BURN the Bible’s because if we don’t - it will upset the Islamic Nation...

If you think badly about Muslims...it will upset the Islamic Nation...

If you render a drawing/pinting of Muhammad...it will upset the Islamic Nation...

If you write about upsetting the Islamic Nation...it will upset the Islamic Nation...

If you invade a corrupt regime and attempt to replace it with something more peaceful in hopes that all it’s citizens will enjoy freedoms and prosperity...it will upset the Islamic Nation...

If you try to give rights to women...it will upset the Islamic Nation...

if you do not beleive in Muhammad or you are not a Muslim...it will upset the Islamic Nation...

is there a theme going here...or am I paranoid (kick in with Ozzy song)

What’s even weirder is that folks on the left can try to defend both positions AND claim they’re not being hypocritical.

All it does is expose their “means to the ends” justification in their war on all things Christian.

Please view the video by Pastor Terry Jones. It will shock you

Pastor Terry Jones speaks

The Pastor received a phone call from a retired Green Beret Special Forces member and you must hear what he had to say.

You either believe in Freedom or you don’t. If we aren’t fighting for the freedom of Afghanis to Choose their own religion, we shouldn’t be fighting. The only way to defeat terror is freedom. That ain’t Freedom.

So General Petraeus objects to burning Korans in the U.S.

The question must be asked, "Are soldiers under his command still destroying Bibles also?"

Think I’ll get a Koran (I’m sure Barnes & Noble has a whole section devoted to Islam) and burn it on 9/11!

I went on the internet and found this:

US Burned Bibles In Afghanistan - in 2009>

It writes:

"First, as we noted back in May 2009, Al Jazeera kicked off a propaganda jihad with some year old footage showing Bibles in Afghanistan."

WOW. Unbelievable! Our military stood by in Yugoslavia and watched muslems burn a 3 story hospital filled with Christians and did nothing.

They did nothing because our govt ordered them to do nothing. And this same retired Green Beret who personally watched this event in Yugoslavia tells Terry Jones that the special forces SUPPORTS the koran burning. This puts this whole koran burning thing in a whole new perspective for me. Thanks for that link.

So apparently Christians are open targets that our military will not protect, but military brass will protect the koran over people’s lives. We are so screwed as a country, its unbelievable.

I’m IN! Great idea. The muzzies are using our own first amendment laws to do their thing. The Reverend has every right to burn the Koran. Screw what anyone else thinks. Barnes and Nobles opens in 1/2 hour.

I guess their freedom is to be free to behead people like Daniel Pearl, stone women to death by burying them up to their shoulders with their head mainly exposed, straping bombs onto children and women who are mentally disabled, yessirree! That is their freedom. The 9/11 mosque imam has asked that Shariah law be brought to America! Don't laugh! It is incredible how far they have progressed in so short a time.

Someone once said, if you get into a dog fight and let the other guy fight dirty and you don't, you're gonna lose, my friend.

We are facing a matter of survival. Today there are more practicing Muslims in Britain than there are practicing Anglicans. France is a basket case. By 2050 (now I've read as early as 2025) Islam will be the primary religion in Europe.

Take a look at what is happening today in THIS country! Schools throughout the nation are providing rooms for Muslim students to be able to pray during the entire month of Ramadan, while our children cannot even bend their heads to say a prayer over their lunches. Universities are providing foot baths for their Muslim students. This has extended even to Muslim taxi drivers. A football team in Michigan is practicing at night so that Muslim students don't have to practice during the Ramadan month in daylight. The call to prayer (which our president recites in perfect Arabic) is now being heard five times a day in many of our cities

What more proof does anyone need to know that if we do not stand up to what is happening to us, we might as well roll over and bare our throats now.

Now, ask yourself the question. "Can you be a good Muslim AND a good American?" The Koran demands that they seek out the infidel and slay him (that's you and I my friend). If they do not, then they are good Americans. So it is obvious they cannnot be both.

As someone once said, "They [the Muslims] want to co-exist until they can control, dominate, and if need be, destroy."

I understand the military’s rationale, but you’re right, plain talk, the timing is rotten. I wasn’t aware of the “Prime Directive” mentioned. A Christian soldier truly has to consider how to balance the military authority he serves with the Higher Authority that gives conflicting commands (Matthew 28:19-20 and 1 Peter 3:15 as a start).

I’m a former officer myself, and I understand that service in the armed forces requires the member to relinquish some civil liberties. This is way out on the boundary of that, though - ultimately, the believer has to serve God first, or their very oath of enlistment is called into question.
