Mother Teresa - ignored and hated
Examiner ^ | September 2, 2010 AD | Mariano Grinbank

It is surely to the glory of God that his servants are so often utterly hated and ignored by the world.

On the other hand, what sort of examples do we want popularized in the media and pop-culture? Tiger Woods, Paris Hilton, Mark Sanford, et al. or Mother Teresa?

The The Associated Press reports on the latest attempt to forget the saintly in “Empire State Bldg unlit for Mother Teresa’s b’day”:...

The first thing I ever edited on Wikipedia was an entry for Padre Pio. I opened it up just by chance and noted that the first sentence characterized him as an Italian serial killer. So I had to learn how to fix that.

There are many people who hate God and hate the servants of God.

Empire State Building owner Anthony Malkin cites a policy of not honoring religious figures.

How does that rise to the level of hate?

There are many supposed servants of God who should be condemned. Mother Theresa is not one of them.

They will probably make an exception for “Rev” Al Sharpton.

I don’t think she would care and neither should we.

Because they already have! Hello! You have not been following the whole story? On many levels it’s all nonsense.

Empire State Building owner Anthony Malkin cites a policy of not honoring religious figures.

Mother Teresa was more than a religious figure. She crossed the boundaries of religion, and became an international personality. In 1979 she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Martin Luther King was also a religious figure. He crossed boundaries and became a political figure. He won the Nobel in 1964.

If people wanted the Empire State Bldg lit in honor of MLK's s birthday...do you think Anthony Malkin or anyone would oppose it?

Therein is the quandary in America of bigotry, and contradictions.

Have what?

You have not been following the whole story?

I read the story referenced in the thread. The word "hate" drew me in. What I saw was a guy who didn't want to rent/give out the use of his building based on a desire to not get involved in religion. You don't have to like that, but it isn't hate.

On many levels it’s all nonsense.

We agree there.

I live in NY.They honored other religious figures already in the recent past.

So that argument is mute. A farce according to this owner. That's what I am pointing out. That's all. If he already did it. What's the big deal. You understand now.

Maybe he doesn't want to do it any more. My point is that his refusal to do it isn't hate. Not by a long shot. The default position in society (and the implication in the thread title) now seems to be that if you don't want to go along with what somebody else wants, you're a hater. That's absurd.

You understand now.

They lit up the Empire State Building for a Chinese communist but not for Mother Teresa of Calcutta?

Did you know that?

O be;oeve tje reaspm that they would not honor Mother Teresa is because she stood so solidly against abortion. President and Mrs. Reagan didn't think she was nonsense and neither to I and I doubt that you do either -- although I can't read your mind. Still, it's not a laughing matter.

Do you believe that the building owner is not willing to re-lamp his building for this event because he hates Mother Teresa?

Because he hates the pro-life ideas that she represented during life.

Do you believe that she really saw Christ in every soul that lay dying in the gutter in Calcutta?
