Catholic Ping!

Do any of your churches have a Resurrection station or prayer at the end of the Way of the Cross?

You know, I am thinking I need to find a Roman Catholic Church to attend regularly so I can begin to draw parallels between the (local) RCC practices and the Anglican practice I am familiar with.

Especially with what I understand to be a movement to reconcile the differences between Rome and Cantebury.

I am so confused...

I keep clicking your link and it brings me to the thread your link is posted on. Did you mean to post something else?

Or am I just craptastically stupid and totally missing something?

Wow.

I win. I have just proven that I am the dumbest fool on Free Republic.

It occurred to me IMMEDIATELY after posting that you were asking people if they could help me find a Parish. It was that the response was TO me that caused my confusion.

So much win.

Well then, you've got St. Michael nearby. I don't know anything about the parish though. Of if you don't mind a bit of a drive, you've got St. Elizabeth Ann Setion up the road in Keller. I've heard good things about that one.

Awesome. I’ll look into both of those. I really want to learn more about the similarities, differences and relationship between my (somewhat new) Anglicanism and the Roman Catholic Church. I see a LOT of similarities, and the two primary differences I am familiar with are the matter of the Pope and the marriage of priests.

I know the BCP is different than the prayer books of the RCC, but have no idea to what extent. The few Roman Catholic Masses I have attended are incredibly similar to what we do at my Parish.

So, being that I find the current movement to reconcile between the two, I want to know more.

Thanks for the info!

Another idea for you would be to sign up for RCIA classes at one of those parishes. There’s no commitment to join the Church after completion, but it is a great way to learn more than you thought you’d ever need to know about the RCC.

Keep us posted on FR about your findings.

I probably will when I get back. I’m hoping to sign my contract and leave for Basic within a month, so right now this is little more than an expeditionary operation of sorts.
