Romans 6:23 - wages of sin is death
Mark 3:22-30, Matthew 12:31-32 - only blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven
Any sin that is NOT repented of will remain with a person to his death. Not just the sins against the Holy Spirit, although they are much more serious.
That was this past Sunday's Gospel reading.
And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
Matthew 12:32
What do you understand that to mean? How is it that we can speak against the Son of Man but not against the Holy Spirit? Aren't both part of the Trinity? What distinguishes the two that a statement of eternal condemnation should be attributed to the Holy Spirit and not to the Son of Man?
1 John 5:16-17 - there is sin which is mortal (”leads to death”)
