Today I would like to reflect briefly with you on the second task the priest has, that of sanctifying men, above all through the sacraments and the worship of the Church.

It is God that sanctifies men ... Jesus said (to the father)"17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." John 17

Paul said in Eph 5:26 — That he (God) might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ" (I Thes. 5: 23).

James says: — Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.:Jam 1:21

Peter said — Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1Pe 1:23

You are taking that term of “santifying men” much too broadly.

As a former Catholic, you know that the priest sanctifies all Catholics through the Sacraments.

In reference to men alone, I believe the priest sanctifies young men by talking to them about his priesthood path and the possibility of them becoming a priest.
