Again, you’ve assumed that the confirmation you received is from the Holy Ghost and not the movement of a lying spirit. By what standard do you make that determination unless you use the established Word of God? Sure, anyone who is confused about “religious issues” should absolutely turn to God for guidance. Why else do you think we have a Bible? But if you turn away from that and to another standard of truth, you have opened yourself up to all manner of deception.

No feeling of confirmation that you get is going to be God, in effect, saying,”Yeah, forget what I told you in the Bible about who I am, what I’ve done, and how you can determine truth from error. The Book of Mormon is true in spite of all that.”

The problem with Normady's supposed 'confirmation' of the Smithian novel known as The Book of Mormon is the essence of how Satan lies: there are passages in the BofM that are lifted word for word from the Old Testament and many where the New Testament is paraphrased; Satan seldom gives a 100% lie, and his lying is usually full of some truth but contains his lie.

Asking if the entire document is false is like buying a car which has Cadillac parts and Oldsmobile parts and Ford parts and Mercedes parts and Porsche parts, and ... well, you get the gist that asking if the car is a Caddie is a loaded question. Deceiving spirits enjoy giving someone an emotional confirmation based upon such deceits.

But we know that God is not a liar therefore He does not lie, nor would anything from Him ne a lie or contain a lie as a directive from Him. Yes, the Bible contains passages where the lie of a human is related, but it is not God directing belief in a lie.

Mormonism has raised the status of a poorly written/plagerized novel to the level of scripture and is determined to ignore any refutations to their chosen belief.

If we PRAY to GOD, only HE can answer the prayer.

Just because we have no SCRIPTURE to back this up shouldn't be a problem: right??!)

Hi William,

I do understand that there are false spirits that can deceive so of course we must be careful in what we accept as truth. I can assure you that I have taken great pains to make sure that I have not been deceived in my religious faith — the most important part of anyone’s life in my estimation.

In the last chapter of the Book of Mormon a test presented to the reader of the book whereby he or she may know of its truthfulness:

“Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder them in your hearts.

“And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

“And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.” (Moroni 10:3-5)

I took this test to heart and did as Moroni exhorted, praying in faith to God, my Father, in the name of Jesus Christ asking him to manifest the truth of the Book of Mormon to me by the power of the Holy Ghost — and I received that confirmation in an unmistakable way.

My account is certainly not unique. There are countless accounts from others in the LDS church who have followed the same pattern, and who have received the same answer.

I don’t believe that if someone with “a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ” prays to God the Eternal Father in the name of Jesus Christ will receive a revelation from the devil.

I would add that I don’t find the Book of Mormon to be in conflict with the Bible. To me it’s not either/or - it’s both. Both are testaments of Jesus Christ and they run together.

A favorite passage of mine in the Book of Mormon explains it like this:

2 Nephi 29: 10. Wherefore, because that ye have a Bible ye need not suppose that it contains all my words; neither need ye suppose that I have not caused more to be written.

11 For I command all men, both in the east and in the west, and in the north, and in the south, and in the islands of the sea, that they shall write the words which I speak unto them; for out of the books which shall be written I will judge the world, every man according to their works, according to that which is written.

12 For behold, I shall speak unto the Jews and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the Nephites and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the other tribes of the house of Israel, which I have led away, and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto all nations of the earth and they shall write it.

13 And it shall come to pass that the Jews shall have the words of the Nephites, and the Nephites shall have the words of the Jews; and the Nephites and the Jews shall have the words of the lost tribes of Israel; and the lost tribes of Israel shall have the words of the Nephites and the Jews.

Best regards,

Normandy
