You won’t know if you’re saved or not until your particular judgement, just as Scripture teaches.

Based on 40+ years of anecdotal evidence, I have come to the conclusion that most protestants have had the Bible read to them. They havent actually sat down and read it themselves cover to cover even in the abridged, heavily edited form that they possess.
That is not what Scripture tells the believer. Scripture says if a man believes in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior that man is forgiven his sins and will be with Christ in paradise at the moment of his death.
By God's grace Christians have this eternal assurance which Rome deprives it members of in order to keep them beholden to it and not to God alone for salvation.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure." -- 1 John 3:1-3
"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." -- 1 John 5:13
"Be not afraid; only believe." -- Mark 5:36"Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Like this scripture, you mean:
I John 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Or this one:
Ephesians 2:8,9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Or this one:
Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
