FRiend, this is really a drag. The rules of the Religion Forum are a little different than the regular forums, too.

I do get angry. I admit it. And I don’t always care if I hurt the bigots’ feelings.

It is a drag, makes me feel a bit sad for those who delight in such things.

If it hurts some old sheep dog like me I cant imagine how our Lord must feel over and over again.

God forgive them and have Mercy on the imperfections of human beings.

Peace.

Where is Scott Hawn when you need him? : )

Signing off time for Mass and then lunch, blood sugar is plummeting.

Hope to visit after lunch and with peace! : )

But when reading the 10 Commandments, please do NOT follow the example of others here and pretend the one about not bearing false witness is optional...

They have admitted that they do that for lurkers. They don’t care what we think, they know we’ve destroyed their arguments a hundred times. But on the off chance that a nOOb is around, they post that junk over and over and over.

and one thing the art did make me think about is how no one was hurt more by Jesus' sacrifice than Mary. How she, like mothers throughout time who by definition had to have 'worse' children than Mary did, how she had to wish somehow it could be her suffering on the cross, instead of watching her Son die. What mother wouldn't?

Yet there are those who say her specialness ended at Jesus' birth, believing all she was was a vessel. Test-tube Mary, as it were. Weird leaps of logic you have to take to go where some would have you follow....

"I revere the Holy Bible, I take it as a whole, not a partial verse at a time."

==============================================

Check these out:

Luke 4:3

3The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread."

4Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone.

Jesus was quoting from this verse:

Deuteronomy 8:3

3And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Jesus quoted a partial verse!

Luke 4:16-20

16He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read. 17The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: 18"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, 19to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."[e] 20Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, 21

This is the verse that Jesus quoted:

Isaiah 61:1-2

1The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

Jesus stopped in the middle of a verse!

================================================

Is there something wrong with what Jesus is doing? Is there something wrong with wielding Gods Word in like manner as our Lord?

The devil laughs I am sure when he sees Protestants attacking Catholics the way they do. His philosophy is divide and conquer and he’s done a really good job at that.

See JA - it’s like preaching! Just in the same way my three-year-old daughter takes spices, and water, and dumps them in a pot, and it’s like cooking. After all, all the ingredients are there....

Funny but rather cowardly to snipe me behind my back right in front of me.

A lot easier than addressing my point directly, eh?

The beads you describe sound like hematite, a form of iron oxide. Polished it has a dark metallic finish -- like looking at a pool of dark water -- and as it has iron content, would definitely have some heft.

Hematite

Not "from the beginning." Not until much later when pagan sects and practices had creeped into some churches unaware.

Oh, but it was from the beginning. Certainly much, much closer to the beginning than the birth of the protestant heresy which some how revealed the "truth" a mere 1500 years after the death and resurrection of our Savior. How many poor souls were sent to hell for their "superstitious" petitions to the saints before Luther and Calvin enlightened the world and let a million sects proliferate in their unbearable hubris?

Can you not see the utter absurdity of this claim? Your argument is self-contradictory and risible.

That's why so many Christians here find all this attention and adoration slavishly and fawningly showered on Mary to be more than a bit creepy.

My guess is that you probably find a lot of true and traditional Christian practices creepy. That's why you guys went off and founded your own sects apart from the rest of us--so you could embrace only those parts of Christianity you found comfortable and not have to worry about the "creepy" stuff.

I truly feel no anger toward you. Only pity. You are trying to breathe with only one lung and then telling us that we are sinning by breathing with two. It's sad, really.

Meanwhile many Rosaries are being said that are crushing the devil and evil,thus, our Lord is providing Grace, Mercy and Miracles in the lives of those who pray the Rosary.

you see, the nuns in the orphanage had rosary beads the size of golf balls. and many a time I was whacked with them with the nun screaming “you’re the devil”.

Somehow, I suspect you were not acting like an angel.

Nowadays, parents seem to think their children were immaculately conceived when they could use a good bopping on the head
