Pretty easy.

Moses.

He was God’s Friend. And, God buried him.

There’s a lot of other reasons as well.

No hint of such things with Mary in all of Scripture.

Christ made very clear Mary’s rank in the over all scheme of things when

HE

asserted that those who did the will of The Father were equal to his mother, BROTHERS AND SISTERS.

Yes! We have a winner. Per the bible, there is only One greater than Moses, and Moses was a sinner. Yet, he was the only one with whom God talked "face to face" and spoke with "mouth to mouth". And yet, as Hebrews and John tells us, Christ is greater.

So where then is Mary in this eschelon? She can't be greater than Christ, since Christ is greater than Moses, and none were greater, ever, than Moses, per God. Moses has no fancy titles, doesn't have a throne and never entered into the promised land. Yet, among men, up until Christ, there were none greater.

and let's not forget about John the Baptist, Matthew 11:11

Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

So now Mary, having been born before John had to be the lesser . That throne is shrinking
