It's a very long article. A tour de force from National Geographic. There are more photographs at the link.
So in order to keep their stuff. BY changed what JS had said was god's law.
Wouldn't that make the flds the real mormon church and the lds the off shoot?
10 page bk/mark/ for after zzzzzzz
Seems that there aren’t any male teenagers in the pictures... wonder why?
“Wouldn’t that make the flds the real mormon church and the lds the off shoot?”
Pretty sure they’d see it that way.
“A Texas appeals court later found that authorities had not met the burden of proof for the removal of the more than 400 children, and most were returned to their families within two months.”
Can’t wait until the lawsuits against the State of TX start, once these trials are over. It’s call the “US Constitution” and you just can’t bypass it.
If you rounded up every child in a randomly-chosen town of 6000, you’d probably end up with as many child abuse trials and convictions.
Actually Brigham Young was a plig all the way. It wasn't Brigham Young, but a subsequent infallible prophet who reversed Smith's originally infallible prophecy.
Wouldn't that make the flds the real mormon church and the lds the off shoot?
That's true. It is the FLDS that is the true heir to Smith's teachings, and the "mainline" LDS church the apostates.
Evident on the surface. It amazes me the way LDS argue it.
Its a system.
But no expelled young buck was interviewed for the article.
I do not believe that these men and women are free. They are too submissive , more like Muslims than Americans.
I doubt they'll argue it on this thread. This is the crazy aunt in the attic and good families just don't talk about such things in front of outsiders. Maybe at Sunday meeting; of course the aim not to discuss the problem of how the FLDS and similar groups treat people, but rather usually to warn members about the perils of apostasy.
It is still a Cult...
Not a single thing is Biblical.
Agreed
Yes, ain't the Texas Constitution wonderful.
It's good that Texas law enforcement followed the constitution of Texas by getting Texas search warrants.
It's equally good that Texas resident FLDS members were also able to avail themselves of Texas Constitution provided redress.
It's truly unfortunate that FLDS adults are so unwise in choosing their associations, that they willingly subject their children to the widely known sexual perversions of other FLDS adults.
It's truly repugnant that FLDS adults subject their families and community to the trappings of the criminal underworld to such an extent that their children have to be exposed to the harsh realities of law enforcement.
Hanging is just too good for them FLDS leaders I tell ya', but the good people of the state of Texas treat criminals more humanely it seems. Have a good day, pard.
what happens to the expelled young bucks, I wonder?
They wander the periphery, and finnd mates from the apostate Mormon community.Sometimes they rejoin after acquiring multiple wives from outside.
Yes, its a cult but if the Gay Community wins its case for Same Sex marriage—polygamy will be legalized right after it. As long as they keep to themselves I am Ok with it.
The women who were arrested and had newborns taken away because the state is seeking to protect girls from underage marriage (and who marries a newborn?) - absolutely should sue.
The traditionally married families of a husband and wife and children whose children were taken, yes, sue.
So should women whose children were scattered all over the state and then told get a job AND visit the kids AND attend classes - and you get no help from a state that considers you so helpless and defenseless that you cannot protect yourself and children from abuse.
Drug addicts on welfare get more help to adapt to society than the FLDS women did.
AND it was all done on a prank call.
The state will be paying for this big time.

Issues of polygamy, race and who knows what else the Slat Lake City branch of Mormons has surrendered for the sake of political expediency.
Indeed, the fDLS does seem to hold to the tenants of the faith founded by Jos. Smith.
Bingo.
