Clean slate or erased tablet. The term is used in scholastic philosophy to describe the human mind before it has acquired any ideas from sense experience and reasoned reflection.

As an aside, Marvel Comics all too frequently uses “tabula rasa” as a plot device. Some superhero or villain gets their memory wiped, as part of a “retcon” (retroactive continuity), where they explain away some other plot device.

You know those comics where he suddenly knew everyone’s secret identity, and was going to tell all to the media? Not gonna happen. The aliens got him and wiped his mind. Doesn’t remember anything about it.

He is a “tabula rasa”.
