Vatican prepares for extraterrestrial disclosure
The Honolulu Examiner ^ | November 12, 2009 | Michael Salla, Ph.D.

Posted on 11/19/2009 8:53:31 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

The Vatican has just completed a five day conference on astrobiology where scientists convened to discuss the detection and implications of extraterrestrial life. A major driving force behind the conference was the Director of the Vatican Observatory, the Jesuit priest Father Jose Gabriel Funes. In May 2008, Funes gave an interview to the Vatican’s L’Osservatore Romano newspaper saying that the existence of intelligent extraterrestrials posed no problems to Catholic theology. The conference itself was officially convened by the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences, chaired by its religious leader Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, and was held on private Vatican grounds from November 6-10. Together with Funes’ 2008 interview and subsequent public comments by him, the conference demonstrates a welcome openness by the Vatican on the possibility and implications of extraterrestrial life. The Vatican’s openness to discussion of extraterrestrial life is no accident. It is part of an openness policy secretly adopted by the United Nations in February 2008. In fact, the Vatican is playing a leading role in preparing the world for extraterrestrial disclosure.

For most observers, the conference was an innovative scientific gathering sanctioned by the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences to show the Holy See’s support for modern science in the detection of extraterrestrial life. The conference primarily focused on the detection of primitive extraterrestrial life forms, and featured presentations from nearly 30 international experts in astronomy, physics and biology. Marc Kaufman from the Washington Post reports:

Scientists (many of them nonbelievers) are offering presentations on subjects as varied as how life might have begun on Earth; what newly found "extremophile" microbes living in harsh places on our planet might tell us about possible life on others; and how life forms might be detected in our solar system, or how their bio-signatures might be found on and around the many distant exoplanets.

Discussion of the implications of intelligent extraterrestrial life, both scientific and theological, did not appear prominently in the conference agenda. One of the presenters, however, Prof Paul Davies commented on the religious implications of discovering intelligent extraterrestrial life: "If you look back at the history of Christian debate on this, it divides into two camps. There are those that believe that it is human destiny to bring salvation to the aliens, and those who believe in multiple incarnations," Davies pointed out that the multiple incarnations theory, the idea that multiple examples of Jesus Christ would be found in the universe “is a heresy in Catholicism."

The Vatican, through Funes, is supporting the idea that the incarnation of Christ is a unique event in Earth’s history tied in to humanity’s ‘fall’ and ‘original sin’. This idea was a major focus in Father Funes’ May 2008 interview which was titled "The extraterrestrial is my brother." Funes said that intelligent extraterrestrial life may not have experienced a ‘fall’, and may be “free from Original Sin … [remaining] in full friendship with their creator.” This makes it possible to regard them as ‘our brothers’ as Funes explained:

Just as there is a multiplicity of creatures on earth, there can be other beings, even intelligent, created by God. This is not in contrast with our faith because we can't put limits on God's creative freedom… "Why can't we speak of a 'brother extraterrestrial'? It would still be part of creation…

Most importantly, Funes’ statement makes possible the idea that Christianity can be exported to extraterrestrial worlds that have not experienced a ‘fall’ and are free from original sin.

The Vatican’s new openness on extraterrestrial life is consistent with reports of secret discussions held at the United Nations that began in February 2008. The Vatican’s permanent representative to the UN, Archbishop Celestino Migliore, was reported to have attended along with a number of other prominent government officials to discuss increased UFO sightings and the implications of extraterrestrial visitation. Significantly, Migliore's position requires that he maintains close relations with the Vatican's Pontifical Academy of Sciences. At the time of the secret UN discussions, Migliore made a presentation on moral issues associated with scientific problems such as climate change. Most importantly, the UN discussions reportedly led to a new policy of openness being adopted by approximately 30 nations that would begin in 2009.

Another noteworthy participant reported to have attended the 2008 UN discussions was Britain’s Permanent representative at the time, Sir John Sawers. Sawers was later appointed to head Britain’s prestigious foreign intelligence service MI6. The appointment of a diplomat to head an intelligence service was highly unusual. According to a BBC report: “giving the job to someone more recently associated with diplomatic service was regarded as a break from the tradition.” Seen in the context of the February UN meetings, perhaps MI6 was acknowledging the need for greater diplomacy in dealing with problems posed by a new openness policy on UFOs, and eventual disclosure of extraterrestrial life.

The Vatican sponsored astrobiology conference was a landmark event. It showed that the Vatican was willing to officially sanction public discussions on the existence of extraterrestrial life. More significantly, it showed that the Vatican was willing to initiate a comprehensive dialogue on the theological implications of the discovery of intelligent extraterrestrial life. The Vatican’s astrobiology conference is yet one more sign that major global institutions are preparing for some kind of formal disclosure concerning UFOs and/or extraterrestrial life. This is a direct outcome of a series of landmark meetings at the UN beginning in February 2008 that led to the adoption of a new openness policy.

After more than a year of openness, the Vatican is taking the openness policy to a new level, and preparing the public for some kind of formal extraterrestrial disclosure announcement. Numerous independent sources have predicted such disclosure is imminent, and that the Obama administration is expected to play a prominent role. The Vatican is also positioning itself to play a major role in such an announcement and in a post-disclosure world. Its emerging theological position that extraterrestrials “are our brothers” is a welcome departure from more hostile depictions of extraterrestrial life found in some religious denominations and in Hollywood movies. On the other hand, the idea that the Vatican could justify sending missionaries to convert extraterrestrials born without original sin, does raise major concerns. The Vatican, nevertheless, is currently playing a constructive role in preparing the public for the imminent disclosure of extraterrestrial life.

Read the novel “The High Crusade” by Poul Anderson.

“a hundred races, united in Christendom, the English tongue, and the English Crown...”

“they proved they had souls, and could be saved...”

“our former enemy Hurga, now known to this world of Yorkshire as Archbishop William...”

One of the later subplots in the novel is the wholesale conversion of multiple pagan or atheistic alien races to Christianity.

In 1504 while Christopher Columbus was stranded in Jamaica, he used his foreknowledge of a lunar eclipse to fool the natives into provisioning his men. Knowledge is power. Could a modern people such as ourselves fall for similar trickery? Should we necessarily respect or trust the ‘highly evolved’ or technologically advanced?

Has the Vatican decided that extraterrestrial intelligent beings, if ever found, will not have spirits but have souls? ... Until the terminology gets sorted out, the whole exercise is a game.

The theological implications of something that hasn’t happened are zero! Postulating such things seems a waste of time to me but I do understand that others like to think on these things!

Even if it did happen and the Church was all fine and dandy theologically that would not stop the rest of the world pronouncing that the Bible and Christendom was dead. Of course Islam and Hinduism etc would still be ok!

Many people are dying to find another form of life so they can officially wipe Christianity off. When they found those little squiggles in the Mars rocks it wasn’t a day until someone had a go at me about the death of my religion.

Maybe himself, he’s got the other lunatic conspiracy theorists giving HIM endorsements, lol.

ENDORSEMENTS

“Historians will eventually learn a host of academics in America well knew there was an extraterrestrial presence engaging the planet Earth and the human race, but did not have the courage to speak out against the government imposed truth embargo or risk the criticisms from uninformed colleagues. Dr. Michael Salla is not one of them. Lacking neither the courage nor the intellectual honesty to take on the most important issue in history, he is helping to found an extraordinary field of study and policy - Exopolitics. This new way of thinking about the world is the logical and inevitable extension of the citizen/science process underway in earnest since 1947 to confirm and understand the extraterrestrial presence.
For six decades the great universities of a free nation have completely abrogated their responsibility to seek and to teach the truth, however inconvenient that truth might be to the State. This is unacceptable and will be changed. In due course there will be various departments of extraterrestrial studies in every university and college in America. And that powerful and appropriate circumstance will owe much to Michael Salla.”
Stephen Bassett, Executive Director of Extraterrestrial Phenomena Political Action Committee & Executive Producer of the X-Conference

“Michael Salla presents an astounding and eye-brow raising alterative history of the past 100 years. He postulates that since at least the 1930s every major war and policy decision has been in response to an undisclosed extraterrestrial presence on Earth. He traces actual events, ranging from the Nazi development of flying saucers to the recent US invasion of Iraq, to this unworldly element within government and societal issues. Salla’s case could be easily dismissed as fringe conspiracy theory except that it is well supported by the data, answers many of recent history’s most perplexing mysteries and, with each passing year, is gaining credence with thinkers all around the globe. Read and contemplate this thesis today. Tomorrow, it may be the news headlines.”
Jim Marrs, Author of Rule by Secrecy and Alien Agenda

“Exopolitics represents the biggest fork in the road ahead for mankind.
This book is essential reading”.

Public Reviews from Amazon.Com

Few recent UFO books in my library have made significant contribution to the field, but this one sure did. There’s so much conspiracy theory out there that you could spend years exploring it, but Salla draws it all together into focus, all the while keeping in mind the question, “What exactly does it take to convince a jury?” But wait, there’s more! Salla’s book is multi-faceted. It’s a political analysis AND a conspiracy theory. Whilst most researchers might be tempted to enter into endless phylosophical political debate, Salla approaches his thesis by building a framework on the assumption that, since there has already been a long standing ET presence, we already have an exopolitcal relationship - a very dubious and clandestine relationship - one that desperately needs to be exposed before mankind can move forward.
Salla reviews all the major conspiracy theories, not because he beleives them, but because that’s what an impartial scientific person does. He rates his sources, so you don’t have to, and confesses that, although one particular source might not seem reliable, it’s the volume of corroborating sources that gives credence. Salla explores many recent major world events in the context of the ET presence, and some of it, such as the Iraq-Stargate connection, is completely new to me, and he draws it all together into one concise volume, with loads of references for the curious. Salla admits that his book is far from complete or perfect, but it’s a foundation stone and it’s a great starting point for bigger things to come. I thought some of the chapters needed some editing for typographical errors or some updating, and the language was a little “dry”, but the book is otherwise brilliant.

This is among the best book on UFOs I have read. Others are “Alien Agenda” (Jim Marrs) and “UFOs and the National Security State” (Richard Dolan). The author presents an alternative view behind the real causes of many major world events for the past 70 years (a hidden ET presence on Earth). Although mainstream society may scoff at some of his theories, he presents very powerful evidence, quoting from a variety of sources. Although some of the “whistleblowers” claims, border on the fantastic, like the mysterious Dr. Neruda saying that BST (Blank State Technology-the most advanced form of time travel) is being developed by some rogue elements within the NSA, they are presented in a very coherent, intelligent fashion, which make them very difficult to ignore. Dr. Salla is a very brave man for a Ph.D, presenting a theory, which may be ridiculed by mainstream science, society and the media. Do read this book only if you have an open mind, otherwise don’t spend 50 bucks and then blame the author. It may change your view of our planet. It certainly has mine.
