A Message To Those Who Will Be/Are Left Behind - The Rapture of the Church
The Ignorant Fishermen Blog ^ | 8/13/09 | DJP I.F.

Posted on 10/07/2009 3:25:53 PM PDT by The Ignorant Fisherman

Greetings in the Name of The Lord Jesus Christ! This brief letter is written to those of you who have been left behind. May I calm your great anxiety and fears with this great message of hope! God loves you and cares greatly for you. He has a great plan, purpose and future for you and your life. He wants only and always the highest and best things for you. So please give your ear and full attention to the words that follow. The days ahead will be days that will not be easy - in fact they will be quite horrendous. But be of good cheer and of good courage. Have Faith in Almighty God and His Word.

Jesus said, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but hath everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved (John 3:16-17).

God so loved us that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for your sins and mine! God has thus provided a way to restore fellowship with sinners (all humans), and to remove His righteous wrath that was upon us because of our sins and trespasses

According to Jesus, the ones left behind are the righteous.

Now show us the ones that teach a pre-trib rapture.

You have to see things through a despensational window to see the whole pic. when certain groups through Israel under the bus they miss out on the whole tribulation and rapture teachings..

DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING!!!!!

Folks, we have a winner. Finally, an honest dispensationalist who at least admits that you need to adopt The System® before going to the Bible if you want to locate “dispensational truths”.

Unless you first put on the dispensational glasses you won’t find the rapture, or dispensations, or the radical Israel/Church dichotomy.

Thank you for your honesty.

BTW, is the “rapture” really taught in 2 Thess. 2:5-8?

5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. (2 Thess. 2)

All these verses are referring to that event.

Including this one?

5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. (2 Thess. 2)
How exactly does that fit with your rapture theory?

It is a concept drawn from interpretation of numerous passages.

So, do you agree with The Ignorant Fisherman that “[y]ou have to see things through a despensational window to see the whole pic …”, i.e., you have to presume the dispensational system before going to the Bible in order to find dispensational truths like the rapture?

I believe in a Pre-Trib Rapture, but I find the opening paragraph of this post to be absurd.

I thought is was a joke.

Why then does Jesus come twice?

I will bet everything I have against everything you have that the “Rapture” will not happen in the next five years. Hurry up, because I need retirement funds.

I never said I agreed with Rapture. All I did was post a few verses which are commonly used to support it since someone asked.

I never said I agreed with Rapture. All I did was post a few verses which are commonly used to support it since someone asked.

That's okay, but even more helpful would be a prior distinction made between A. the idea of the gathering of the saints to a returning Jesus (taught explicitly in both the gospels and the letters) and B. the idea of the pre-trib gathering of the saints to a returning Jesus (taught nowhere either in the gospels or the letters). Two problems with the pre-trib rapture folk:
1. Because B contains the idea of the gathering of the saints to a returning Jesus every time they see A they assume it's talking about everything else in B, even when discussions of A by none other than Jesus himself rule out the concoction called B.

2. They frequently make acceptance of B an article of faith to the point that if you deny B, they claim you're denying A and the sovereign Lord that bought you with the price of his blood, blah, blah, blah, heaping up all sorts of pious sounding condiments onto their concoction in B that doesn't at all derive from A, depend on A, or make contradiction of B a rejection of A, so that the lack of scriptural support of B is easy to ignore under the bright, tasty, and spicy layers of pieties. For some weird reason they seem almost eager to provoke a reaction to B, describe it as a rejection of A, so that they can feel even more secure about their adherence to B. The problem is that they're still promoting a foot long hot dog that has no wiener.

Goes to the Three Trib argument. The Bible (Revelation) just says He will come again - not twice but once.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh . . .

You heard it right here, boys and girls: A plain admission that you must first think like a dispensationalist to find "dispensational truths" in the Bible.

In the real world, we gain insight and understanding not by bringing our preconceptions to the Bible and imposing them on the text (ala dispensationalism), but to go to the Bible and allowing God to speak to us though it. Surely even you understand that principle, no?

You can guffaw all you wish, but the admission is in black and white.

Why don't you help him out since he is obviously have a hard time finding the rapture in this passage:
5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. (2 Thess. 2)
How exactly does that fit with your rapture theory?
