Catholic Word of the Day Ping!
Please send me a FReepmail if you would like to be on the Catholic Word of the Day Ping List.
I’d like mine straight up, thank you.
“Byelorussia”, variously spelled and most recently, “Belarus”, literally means “white Russia” or “white Rus”. This is a country that was part of the Russian Empire and later the Soviet Union, where it was a constituent republic. The Belorussian people and language are closely related to Russian. This country has been independent since the break-up of the Soviet Union.
