Who would Jesus arrest? Well, Salt Lake City police arrested the combatant left conscious Tuesday in a fight over religion.
About 3 p.m. Tuesday, two men near 800 East and 900 South in Salt Lake City got into a discussion over whether Jesus was a Mormon or a Catholic. The discussion led to blows, police said, and when officers arrived, one man was unconscious and the other was sitting on a sidewalk. The man still conscious was intoxicated, police said, and arrested on suspicion of assault and public intoxication.
According to plain history, he was Jewish.
I think the first Christians came around a few hundred years after his death, though I could be wrong.
Mormonism is a fairly new belief. I don’t know why somebody would think he was a Mormon. I’ve never heard anything about a harem.
Are you suggesting that because the intoxicated man was still conscious that he was the Catholic? Because you just can't tell if that is so by inference.
Also - who in the heck argues religion with a drunk man. That man who would do so should have his head examined - and since he is unconscious I think his head will indeed be examined!
What a couple of morons.
Jesus was Jewish! How could anyone NOT know that? Especially the so-called religious.
These denominations came out of what HE is, not vice-versa.
Denominational arrogance is abundant these days.
>I think the first Christians came around a few hundred years after his death, though I could be wrong.
You are. There were christian churches mere decades after his death.
Around 138 AD, Justin Martyr wrote something to the effect of: "All who take these opinions from these men are, as we before said, called Christian".
This is the first surviving usage of the word "Christian" of which I am aware.
Unless someone baptized him in a Mormon temple. Baptism of the dead is a common practice in the LDS faith.
well it seems you have join arguing with the morons drunks!:)
oh...I thought this was another crevo thread...
...never mind
"The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch" (Acts 11:26b).
"Then Agrippa said to Paul, 'Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?'" (Acts 26:28).
"However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name" (1 Pet. 4:16).
You’re right, and I should have known that. I (mentally) went with the oldest original document I knew of with the word, which was rather silly of me. Thank you for the correction.
Yep, you're wrong - his disciples were known as Christians within their lifetimes.
Bingo.
Jesus was born a Jew and died a Jew.
He gave us something wonderful, but he remained a Jew.
So, who won?
The is also this.
The earliest recorded use of the term outside the Bible was when Tacitus recorded that Nero blamed the “Christians” for the Great Fire of Rome in AD 64.[4]

Maybe Jesus actually rode into Jerusalem on a bicycle wearing a white dress shirt.
Bingo.
Jesus was born a Jew and died a Jew.
He gave us something wonderful, but he remained a Jew.
Hello!
Jesus was The Christ therefore His Followers were the Christians!:)
It seems the debate is not over....
