Pray a Rosary each day for our nation.

1. Sign of the Cross: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

2. The Apostles Creed: I BELIEVE in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

3. The Lord's Prayer: OUR Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

4. (3) Hail Mary: HAIL Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and in the hour of our death. Amen. (Three times)

5. Glory Be: GLORY be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Fatima Prayer: Oh, my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of your mercy.

Announce each mystery, then say 1 Our Father, 10 Hail Marys, 1 Glory Be and 1 Fatima prayer. Repeat the process with each mystery.

End with the Hail Holy Queen:

May Devotion: Blessed Virgin Mary

Since the 16th century Catholic piety has assigned entire months to special devotions. Toward the end of the eighteenth century a zealous Jesuit priest, Father Lalomia, started among the students of the Roman college of his Society the practice of dedicating May to Our Lady. The devotion, which others had promoted in a small way, soon spread to other Jesuit Colleges and to the entire Latin church and since that time it has been a regular feature of Catholic life.

Seen above is the Blessed Virgin Mary, portrayed as Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
It was she who was chosen by God, to provide His Son with His Sacred Humanity.
She did so in humble and total cooperation with the Holy Spirit and the Divine will of the Holy Trinity; providing God's Son with the Blood He shed for us on the Cross.

Hail, most gracious Mother of mercy, hail, Mary, for whom we fondly yearn, through whom we obtain forgiveness! Who would not love thee? TO OUR LADY

Saint John Vianney, better known as the Cure of Ars, when asked how long he had loved Mary, said: "I loved her almost before I could know her." In this prayer he expresses that love.
O thou most holy virgin Mary, who dost evermore stand before the most holy Trinity, and to whom it is granted at all times to pray for us to thy most beloved Son; pray for me in all my necessities; help me, combat for me, and obtain for me the pardon of all my sins. Help me especially at my last hour; and when I can no longer give any sign of the use of reason, then do thou encourage me, make the sign of the cross for me, and fight for me against the enemy. Make in my name a profession of faith; favor me with a testimony of my salvation, and never let me despair of the mercy of God. Help me to overthrow the wicked enemy. [13] Now Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in
Pamphylia. And John left them and returned to Jerusalem; [14] but they passed
on from Perga and came to Antioch of Pisidia.

fear God, listen. [17] The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and made
the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with uplifted arm He led
them out of it. [18] And for about forty years He bore with them in the wilderness.
[19] And when He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He gave
them their land as an inheritance, for about four hundred and fifty years. [20] And
after that He gave them judges until Samuel the prophet. [21] Then they asked for
a king; and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin,
for forty years. [22] And when He had removed him, He raised up David to be their
king; of whom He testified and said, “I have found in David the son of Jesse a man
after My heart, who will do all My will.’ [23] Of this man’s posterity God has brought
Israel a Savior, Jesus, as He promised. [24] Before His coming John had preached
a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. [25] And as John was finishing
his course, he said, ‘What do you suppose that I am? I am not He. No, but after
me One is coming, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.’”

Commentary:

15. Sabbath services in synagogues went right back to the post-exilic period (after
the Babylonian Captivity, which lasted from 586 to 539 B.C.), and by now they had
a very settled form. They consisted of readings from Sacred Scripture, preaching
and public prayers. No one was especially appointed to preside over these servi-
ces; the president or ruler of the synagogue could ask any member of the
community to take the ceremony (cf. 18:8); he supervised the preparations and
made sure that everything was done properly.

16-41. Paul’s address here is an excellent example of the way he used to present
the Gospel to a mixed congregation of Jews and proselytes. He lists the benefits
conferred by God on the chosen people from Abraham down to John the Baptism
(verses 16-25); he then shows how all the messianic prophecies were fulfilled in
Jesus (verses 26-37), and, by way of conclusion, states that justification comes
about through faith in Jesus, who died and then rose from the dead (verse 38-41).

This address contains all the main themes of apostolic preaching, that is, God’s
saving initiative in the history of Israel (verses 17-22); reference to the Precursor
(verses 24-25); the proclamation of the Gospel or “kerygma” in the proper sense
(verses 26b-31a); mention of Jerusalem (verse 31b); arguments from Sacred
Scripture (verses 33-37), complementing apostolic teaching and tradition (verses
38-39); and a final exhortation, eschatological in character, announcing the future
(verses 40-41). In many respects this address is like those of St. Peter (cf.
2:14ff; 3:12ff), especially where it proclaims Jesus as Messiah and in its many
quotations from Sacred Scripture, chosen to show that the decisive event of the
Resurrection confirms Christ’s divinity.

Paul gives a general outline of salvation history and then locates Jesus in it as
the expected Messiah, the point at which all the various strands in that history
meet and all God’s promises are fulfilled. He shows that all the steps which lead
up to Jesus Christ, even the stage of John the Baptist, are just points on a route.
Earlier, provisional elements must now, in Christ, give way to a new, definitive
situation.

Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet

(Jesus said to His disciples,) [16] “Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not
greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.
[17] If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. [18] I am not
speaking to you all; I know whom I have chosen; it is that the Scripture may
be fulfilled, ‘He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’ [19] I tell you
this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe
that I am He. [20] Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives any man whom I
send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”

Commentary:

15-17. Jesus’ whole life was an example of service towards men, fulfilling His
Father’s will to the point of dying on the Cross. Here our Lord promises us that
if we imitate Him, our Teacher, in disinterested service (which always implies
sacrifice), we will find true happiness which no one can wrest from us (cf. 16:22;
17:13). “’I have given you an example’, He tells His disciples after washing their
feet, on the night of the Last Supper. Let us reject from our hearts any pride,
any ambition, any desire to dominate; and peace and joy will reign around us
and within us, as a consequence of our personal sacrifice” (St. J. Escriva,
“Christ Is Passing By”, 94).

18. Lifting one’s heel against someone means hitting him brutally; metaphorically,
therefore, it means violent enmity. Judas’ treachery fulfills the words of Psalm
41:10 where the psalmist complains bitterly of a friend’s treachery. Once again
the Old Testament prefigures events which find their full expression in the New.

Through Baptism, the Christian has become a son of God and is called to share
in God’s good things, not only in Heaven but also on earth: He has received grace,
he shares in the Eucharistic Banquet..., he shares with his brethren, other Chris-
tians, the friendship of Jesus. Therefore, if a person sins who has been born again
through Baptism, in some sense his is a sort of treachery similar to Judas’.
However, we have the recourse of repentance: if we trust in God’s mercy we can
set about recovering our friendship with God.

“React. Listen to what the Holy Spirit tells you: ‘”Si inimicus meus maledixisset
mihi, sustinuissem utique”’. If it were the enemy who insulted me, I could put up
with that. But you...’”tu vero homo unanimis, dux meus, et notus meus, qui simul
mecum dulces capiebas cibos”’: you, My friend, My Apostle, who sit at My table
and take sweet food with Me!” ([Blessed] J. Escriva, “The Way”, 244).

19. Jesus tells the Apostles in advance about Judas’ treachery, so that when they
see Christ’s predictions come true, they will realize He has divine knowledge and
that in Him are fulfilled the Scriptures of the Old Testament (cf. John 2:22). On the
words “I am”, cf. note on John 8:21-24.

An Easter Prayer for Life

Happy Easter!

We are in the season of the Resurrection, a special period of 50 Days from the Easter Vigil to Pentecost Sunday, in which the Church proclaims with particular emphasis and joy that death has been conquered and that by our baptism we have a share in the Risen Life of Christ!

This is the season of life. We therefore invite all believers to pray the “Easter Prayer for Life” each day, to counteract the most widespread and violent attack on human life in our day, which is abortion. The new commandment
The Lord Jesus declares that he is giving his disciples a new commandment, that they should love one another: I give you a new commandment: love one another. But wasn’t this commandment already part of the ancient law of God, where it is written You shall love your neighbour as yourself? It is true that love renews those who listen to it (or rather, those who act in obedience to it) but it is that particular love which the Lord distinguished from all carnal affection by adding love one another as I have loved you. This is the love that renews us, making us new men, heirs of the New Testament, singers of the new song. It was this love, my beloved brethren, that renewed the patriarchs and prophets of old, and later renewed the blessed apostles. This is the love that is now renewing the nations, and from among the universal race of man, which overspreads the whole world, is making and gathering together a new people, the body of the newly-married spouse of the only-begotten Son of God. Of her the Song of Songs says, Who is she who is coming up, clothed in white? Clothed in white because she has been renewed; and how else can she have been renewed but by the new commandment? Because of this, the members of the people of God have a mutual interest in one another; and if one member suffers then all the members suffer with it; and if one member is honoured then all the members rejoice with it. Concluding Prayer
O God, you have given our restored human nature a greater dignity than it had before it fell. Remember the inexhaustible mystery of your love. You have deigned to regenerate us in baptism: keep intact in us your gifts of grace and blessedness. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen.

According to the 1962 Missal of Bl. John XXIII the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, today is the feast of St. Stanislaus, the patron of Poland. He reproached King Boleslaus the Cruel for his dissolute life, and while saying Mass, was put to death by him in 1079. His feast in the Ordinary Form of the Roman Rite is celebrated on April 11.

Meditation - Christ, the Life of the Regenerated Soul
The ideal of perfection is to "live for God in Christ Jesus": Viventes Deo in Christo Jesu. We cannot attain it in a day; holiness, ingrafted in us at baptism, is only developed little by little, by successive stages. Let us try to act in such a way that each Easter, each day of this blessed season which extends from the Resurrection to Pentecost, may produce within us a more complete death to sin, to the creature, and a more vigorous and more abundant increase of the life of Christ.

Christ must reign in our hearts, and all within us must be subject to Him. He came in us as King on the day of our baptism, but sin disputes this dominion with Him. When we destroy sin, infidelities, attachment to the creature; when we live by faith in Him, in His word, in His merits; when we seek to please Him in all things, then Christ is Master, then He reigns within us; as He reigns in the bosom of the Father, so He lives in us.
