Let me start by saying up front that I’m not an Adventist. I am an evangelical Christian, currently a member of an Evangelical Free Church. I am not here to attack your beliefs, but to see if I can find an answer to my question from an Adventist. My question is: why do all the Adventists I know constantly seem to be trying to convert me to Adventism. I assume that Adventists share my faith in Christ as do my Presbyterian, Lutheran, etc. friends, but only my Adventists friends continually bring up those points that are the differences in Adventistism that non-Adventists do not hold to. Please note that I’m not trying to start an argument with Adventism, only trying to understand the difference that I’ve observed.

Hi Binghamton_native and thanks for the question:)

One reason is Adventist generally believe that doctrines are still very important. And that its part of trying to understand the will of God and do it. I know the trend is for differences in doctrine to be download for sake of unity. But most Adventist believe this is a mistake.

Another reason is sense Adventists believe in a different school of prophecy than say Baptists they believe there are different things to be warned against. This ties into the Adventist belief in the Christ coming back soon. And having a message for these last days.

Any way thats the short answer:)
