Indeed. 500 years ago people were all up in arms at the concept that the earth was not the center of the universe. Yet here we are 500 years later and we all acknowledge this fact and there are more Christians today than there were 500 years ago.

I don't know why some people insist on putting God in a box with narrow little rules. Do they really only believe in God under certain conditions?

Bear in mind I'm not advocating any particular view of the age of the earth because it's really not my forte. All I'm saying is that so far as my faith is concerned the age of the earth is totally irrelevant.

If God created it 20 billion years ago or if He created it 7500 years ago makes not a whit of difference to that I believe God created the earth.

Why is this so hard for some people?

The story of the Centurion comes to mind.

5And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

6And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

7And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

8The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

9For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

10When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

THIS is the faith we are expected to evidence! Not the shaky faith that is challenged by every new scientific discovery that bumps up against non-Scriptural dogmas that obsessively distract us from the core of a very simple faith.

Just believe.

“I don’t know why some people insist on putting God in a box with narrow little rules.”

It is because of pride, ignorance and egotism.

Where is the center of the universe, MahatmaGandu?
