This is paraphrase of a conversation I have had with countless Christians on the subject of the Doctrines of Grace:
Them: If you show me something in the Bible I will believe it!
Me: There are some things in Scripture that tend to cause arguments among Christians. What would you say should be the arbiter of those disagreements?
Them: Why the Bible of course!
Me: So let me ask you, how is it we come to faith?
Them OH! God gives us free will and we choose Him!
Me: So what do you do with the passages in the Bible such as those in Romans 8 and 9 and Ephesians 1 where we read about God predestining those who will believe?
It is here where I get one of the following answers:
Them 1: < Air of superiority>My God would never.....
Them 2: < squirming>What the Bible really means is...
Them 3: < great disgust>That's Calvinism and my preacher says that's evil!
Calvinist FRiends, feel free to add your own experiences.

Gonna read this later, but to convey an experience from yesterday.
ME: Well, because we are totally depraved...
HIM: Wait, wait, wait, what's totally depraved?
M: Oh, well, that's a tenent of Calvinism...
H: Calvinism? You're a Calvinist? Isn't that crazy?
M: No. Look, Calvinism is five basic tenents. The first is total depravity, which means ......
H: .... OK, that's pretty much what I believe.
M: Next is Unconditional election...
H: (After some back and forth and the whole, "why evangelize?" argument) ... You're right, that is biblical.
M: Limited Atonement...
H: LIMITED?
M: Yeah, Jesus died to save those that believe in Him, so....
H: Don't go any further, I believe that too.
M: Next is Irresistible Grace, which is... which brings me to scripture discussing the GIFT of grace....
H: OK, got it.
M: And Perseverence of the Saints.....
H: I've always been told that Calvinists don't believe that man has free will at all, that we are predestined to do every little thing...
M: Well, we're no puppet on a string, if that is what you mean...
H: I thought Calvinism was evil, but, I think I'm a Calvinist.
I was actually SHOCKED at how little he resisted the arguments for Calvinism. Shocked, seriously.
God Bless.

He flipped so fast, though, that you wonder if he’d do the same with an Arminian.
Only next time, say “tenet,” a thing you hold as true. Not “tenent,” which is a non-word that sounds like “tenant,” which is a guy in an apartment.

Thanks for the work above.
I will put it to good use.
My recent experience with someone re: Calvinism.....
Them: Yeah, don’t they think they’re the only ones that will be saved and that there are only 144,000...?
Where to start.......

I was actually SHOCKED at how little he resisted the arguments for Calvinism. That's because many evangelicals have little theological depth.

Thanks for posting this list. It would make a great reference had they included embedded links for the verses.

You have posted a lot. It would be very time consuming for me to respond to each point. Perhaps later I will address a few of the errors in reason that I see here. For now if you would please answer one question.
How do you know you are among those who are of the elect?

Tell them it’s Jehovah’s Witnesses who believe only 144,000 will make it to heaven.

You’ve obviously put a great deal of work in this and you have strong faith. I’m not in the mood to debate some of the doctrines that I feel are not supported in scripture, but I’ll point to but one glaring omission of objections that you list.
“It is here where I get one of the following answers:
Them 1: < Air of superiority>My God would never.....
Them 2: < squirming>What the Bible really means is...
Them 3: < great disgust>That’s Calvinism and my preacher says that’s evil! “
Read the Bible and in particular the Gospels in their entirety as opposed to singled out verses which can be met with other singled out verses. This can be done and has been done here on FR as well as in theological seminaries. There is debate because, indeed, verses can be found to support and to detract from a great deal of what Calvin puts forth.
But forget about Calvin and ad hominem attacks. There is disagreement due to the above stated facts.
I’m posting in good faith to Christian brothers and not really looking for strong debate today, because I have other obligations, but I’ll look forward to responses to the above stated dilemma.

In who do I place my faith? If you answer the question Christ, you know you are elect. First of all based on the Calvinist doctrine you can't place faith in anything it God that gave it to you before you where even born but what about
Joh 8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him. Joh 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. yet Jesus said to these same people who the word of God said beleved on him
Joh 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
So how do you know that the faith you have is better that the faith they had?

***it God that gave it to you before you where even born but what about***
Exactly. And it is written in Scripture. If God hasn’t granted it to you you can’t place faith in Christ.

“Provide verses that you think directly oppose the above and well talk.”
The futility and redundancy of that has been covered and I address that that is the problem here.

This can be done and has been done here on FR as well as in theological seminaries.
