Beautiful story and pictures. Thank you for sharing.
Phoenix's Bishop Olmsted continues steadily, quietly, and with great care,to clean up the mess into which he stepped. He is a wonderful, holy, humble and intelligent Bishop. We are very blessed.
While most of the recalcitrant priests (approximately 17) have "chosen" to leave rather than give up their free-spirited lifestyle, several remain.
I think they believe that they have faded into the background;however, they can be identified. They are the ones who would never think to mention that Pope Benedict XVI visited this country,as if not mentioning it could make both the Pope and the position disappear. They also plant subtle notes in their weekly bulletins, such as:"I have received many calls from persons expressing concerns that we will have to return to the old Latin mass, this is not true",etc.
We have an FSSP priest, who has Sunday Mass at one of our larger churches on Sunday, bad time but great location. It is called a mission church,I believe. We have another fairly large parish that has the Tridentine Mass Sunday evening, and several around the valley that have it once a month. Slowly but surely and steadily.
How are things in your neck of the woods,I hope your new Bishop was able to effect some changes although I believe some of your priests and laity were more established dissidents than ours. We are a relatively new diocese dont'cha know.
In any case good seeing your letter and number again.
