In a city of people not exactly known for having formal religious ties, some 7,400 cheered Tuesday morning as they welcomed the Dalai Lama, Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu and about a half dozen other religious leaders.
On the last day of the Dalai Lama's visit to Seattle for a gathering on compassion, he joined Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and other Buddhist representatives along with some young people for a panel discussion on spiritual connection.
Moderator Joan Halifax Roshi, a Zen Buddhist master, began the morning by asking everyone to "come into collective silence and pray in whatever way is appropriate to us" for the best outcome for the situation in Tibet

Rob Bell, an evangelical Christian, said those who have been wronged can choose to act in revenge or they can choose to bear the pain and forgive. Bell is founding pastor of Mars Hill Bible Church in Grandville, Mich. (which is not affiliated with Seattle's Mars Hill Church).

Rob Bell is an evangelical Christian? No, he's a Universalist who just masquerades as a Christian to gain credibility. And yeah, not to be mistaken for Mars Hill in Seattle, especially since Mark Driscoll has basically come out and called Bell and Pagitt and these other Emerging losers HERETICS.
Not that I'm that fond of Driscoll and his potty mouth but I applaud his separation from these apostates.
If Driscoll would ever clean up his language, he has a lot of good to say. He is at least theologically sound - unlike these charlatans that are trying to steal the term “evangelical.”
It would be nice if he did that, yes.
Part of what helped me clean up my mouth was the sudden realization that the good friends around me were NOT speaking that way.
Who is paying any attention to these people?
The pope is here. The leader of 1 billion Christians. The only person the entire world understands is the most recognizable and important disciple of Christ.
Waiting for someone to slander the Dali Lama in 3...2...1...
My man-child and brother in Christ lives in north Seattle. I told him and his friends about this a week or so ago. Seattle is a very dark (spiritually) place.
The people at that conference are shining a dark-light into the darkness. Pray for those who shine for the Lord Jesus to walk and talk boldly of the ONE (nothing to do with the movie, “The Matrix”) Who can save souls.
It would have been cool if Way of the Master had done some street evangelism to those coming out of the conference. Did you see the atrocious video of Rob Bell talking there? I’ll see if I can find it. What a joke! That man is not a Christian, he is a Universalist/Unitarian.
slander? Like how? Critiquing his false teaching?
I don't recognize him as the most important disciple of Christ. In fact I'm pretty sure I don't know about the most "important" disciple of Christ. And neither does the world.
Seattle was he wrong Washington, yesterday. :^D
uh... ok Yoda... :-)
Oh, I miss one little “t”!
I see you’re still waiting...
btw he called himself a marxist. I guess that means I can call him one too without it being considered ‘slanderous.’
That’s plenty of reason to criticize him.
