There have been books written on this subject. One of which I read was, “The Soul After Death” by Seraphim Rose. The book was excellent and it told of death from an Orthodox perspective if not Catholic. The thing that you must remember is that everything is not in Scripture and for two
thousand years Priests have administered last rites and they have seen a bit.

This is best that I have ever found even regarding spiritual advise etc. This manuscript helped me live a very good Lent!
