Even if we haven't yet taken Lent seriously enough, we need to immerse ourselves in Our Lord's saving actions this week, especially in the Sacred Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday. If you need a refresher on how to understand and observe this most solemn time, take advantage of our extensive liturgical year materials on Holy Week.

My people, what have I done to you? How have I offended you?
Answer me!

Holy Week

The three last days of Holy Week are often called the Sacred Triduum. This period may be considered from a threefold viewpoint:

1. These days bring to a climax and to a conclusion our preparation for Easter.

2. But these three days are already a part of Easter; for there is an inseparable union between the Death and Resurrection of Christ—the two together constitute the Easter mystery.

3. These three days may, nevertheless, be regarded as a unit in themselves, a true triduum or trilogy, a three-art drama on Christ's redemptive work. — Excerpted from The Church's Year of Grace by Pius Parsch

Such a holy time. Did you hear in today’s Gospel how Jesus foretold that Judas would be the betrayer. It builds all week, doesn’t it?

Thanks for running these threads. Wifey doesn’t FReep (other than lurk the threads), but she is a very devout Catholic and loved your thread from last week.

Was that the one on the meditations of Christ’s Passion?

I forget, because I post so many.

I attended our diocese’s Chrism Mass today. I don’t think I have ever been to one before. It was 2 hours long, and quite the event. I’ve never seen that many people in the Cathedral before. The singing was amazing, and we have a wonderful bishop.

Thank-you for this wonderful posting. This has been a difficult Lent for me, maybe because it was so early. At least it is important to spend time doing the Tridium well.

Our Chrism Mass was last night in Portland. Wow! Fantastic music, I would say close to 200 priests, the Re-Commitment Ceremony for the priests was soo moving.

And of course, the presentation of the Holy Oils.

A great Mass. Our Archbishop said the Mass and Assistant Bishop assisted. A number of deacons also were present. (As well as a lot of young seminarians!)

Wow!

Our diocese will be ordaining 4 new priests in May. That is actually an incredible amount, since I think we had less than 10 in the last 15 years with our previous bishop. Our new bishop is his own vocations director, he is proving so good at it that the Holy Father arranged a last minute audience with him the last time he was in Rome.

What wonderful resources! Thanks!

I have to get my Easter breads made for the blessing of the food on Saturday. Might do that tomorrow morning.

Great news. Right now I am not sure how many we have here, but it is substantial.
