I also read the apostolic Fathers [around this time], and I couldn't figure out how they got to be Catholic so quickly after the apostles left. I was amazed at how Catholic Ignatius was.

I strongly encourage any and everyone to read:

What was the early Church like? Contrary to popular belief, Rod Bennett shows there is a reliable way to know. Four ancient Christian writers — four witnesses to early Christianity — left us an extensive body of documentation on this vital subject, and this book brings their fascinating testimony to life for modern believers. With all the power and drama of a gripping novel, this book is a journey of discovery of ancient and beautiful truths through the lives of four great saints of the early Church — Clement of Rome, Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr, and Irenaeus of Lyons. You won't be able to put this book down.

the Bible doesn't make a big issue out of being born again. It really doesn't

lol.

That's not what John 3 says. Catholics aren't born again, they are born into a system, maybe that's why it's so unimportant to them. However, Jesus certainly says it's necessary
