Calvin was a dark ugly soul. His vision of God is warped beyond recognition.
“Calvin was a dark ugly soul. His vision of God is warped beyond recognition.”
Could be, could be. I never met the man. But if I remember correctly, Peter denied Christ at a crucial moment even after being warned, Paul made his “bones” persecuting and killing believers, so I guess God can use anyone to get His truth across, even a donkey or stones.
Not only are we indebted to Calvin for his Godly, grace-infused theological understanding, but as the man who gave us the basis for our own system of checks and balances in a representative government.
I realize those who adhere to an archaic, medieval form of church hierarchy may not understand just how much Calvin contributed to our own government, but it's worth trying to encourage you to read him.
Call me an optimist.
