First, I'm assuming your not Universal Unitarian.

And I'd be curious to know how loosey-goosey your preachers are allowed to be with their personal interpretations.

Do you accept what the Roman magesterium teaches you on faith or do you arrive at a conclusion that it is correct?

If you arrive at a conclusion that it is correct, then you have to make a private interpretation of what they have taught you.

You cannot have it both ways.
