I agree but if it was done intentionally it could be producing false hope for some people and I think that is wrong.
Why couldn’t it be the light from a pencil-sized laser directed at the painting from a distance? Did anyone try to interrupt the light by interposing something between the painting and the light to see if it was coming from a distant point-source?
