I'm sure that by now all of you have heard about the claim that the ossuary of Christ's family has been found.

I would like to open a thread that will help us develop answers to friends, both Christians and atheists who might come to us with questions about it all.

Please feel free to post your rebuttals for others to use!

Biblical, rational, scientific, philosophical, whatever you can come up with is more than welcome!

You just signed up today.

Are you employed by the Discovery Channel or sleeping with Cameron (figuratively speaking, of course)?

Wonder what the DNA of the Holy Spirit looks like? Galaxy spirals?

Reality usually refutes idiocy.

Over 500 people witnessed the risen Christ JESUS.

Jewish historian Josephius recorded that Jesus was crucified.

Roman centurions would not remove a man from a cross prior to his death because to do so they would then have been put to death, just as the guards at the tomb would not have abandoned their post fearing death for failing in their duty.

The spread of Christianity throughout the Roman Empire was dramatic even in the face of brutal torture.

The ignorant peasants from Galilee would have gone home, married their sweet hearts and gone fishing rather than be crucified, or tortured, if Jesus had not risen from the dead and told them to get busy.

Following the Crucifixion Christians were left with only two choices. Jesus was nuts, was crucified and is dead. The other choice Jesus was God in man. If Jesus was nuts why run out and take action that leads to your death?

Cameron is a fool and a pawn.

He may be a pawn of satan, but he is no fool. Never underestimate the strength or smarts of your enemy. It is better to be over prepared than under prepared.

This is just one more step down that road of secular humanism that Hollywood views as their religion. They know they must discredit Christianity to ultimately create a morally relativistic society.

Who stand against abortion, embryonic stem cell research, homosexual marriage, norming homosexual lifestyles, sexual promiscuity? Christians.

I'm with you.

I think if you look at Scripture objectively you can't help but see the truth of it. Jesus was foretold of through out the OT. The OT even has a prophesy with a timeline that marks the period the "Annointed One" will be on earth and then separated from us (Daniel 9:23-27). This prophecy was written 600 years before the ministry of Jesus Christ was started. Jesus did walk the earth at the time this prophecy said he would.

Over 500 people saw the resurrected Christ.

If Jesus did not rise from the dead, who else was walking on this earth at the time that is foretold in Daniel? Who else fulfills all the other prophecies about Christ?

If Jesus didn't rise from the dead why did the Apostles lead the lives they did? If not all, at least some would have said "I'm going home".

The Lord knows thats not true.

The idea of this thread is to discuss ways to refute the idea that Jesus's bones have been discovered.

Your points are all very valid, true, strong points, of course.

And I vigorously support them.

And, I think we ought to have solid reasons for our faith. Our faith does not hang on a skyhook.

Nevertheless, at some point, we have to

JUT KNOW--BECAUSE WE !!!!KNOW!!!! HIM!

Reality usually refutes idiocy.

Depends on who gets to define reality.

Over 500 people witnessed the risen Christ JESUS.

so says spurious NT writings.

Jewish historian Josephius recorded that Jesus was crucified.

Many Christians even believe that portion in Josephus' writings were tampered with.

Roman centurions would not remove a man from a cross prior to his death because to do so they would then have been put to death, just as the guards at the tomb would not have abandoned their post fearing death for failing in their duty.

Again you have believe NT writings.

The spread of Christianity throughout the Roman Empire was dramatic even in the face of brutal torture.

Brutal torture ran rampant throughout the Roman empire even before christianity.

Those are not the only two choices. Choice 3: Later reactors and interpolators ascribed divinity to this human, in that case those that tampered are nuts. choice 4: Jesus was Torah observant Jew and didn't write anything about himself, therefore not nuts. there are many more choices that I won't bother to type.

Although the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is not experiential,..(all believers in the Church Age are indwelt, more than simply embued, by the Holy Spirit.) there do exist many believers who have some particular gifts which are experienced.

Indwelling never occurred before the mystery Church Age and will cease after it.

I don't wish ill of James Cameron, but wish he might come to know our Lord the same as He is revealed to us. He manifests, though, a person who either fell away a long time ago or perhaps has never accepted or received the call.

Amen! Faith is a gift from God. Ultimately, we believe because it is God's will that we believe, because we are His.

When will we learn to listen? ... there are lots of people who stand by and say, “If I could only see a miracle I would believe.” But if you don’t believe it before you see you will find some excuse after it happens. Betty Baxter
