St. Helena is my Confirmation patron; I admire her for having produced a successful son :-).

Excellent choice! I went with Magdalene, as a reminder that one can overcome a sinful life.

Sorry to see that toay, the confirmandi are allowed to pick any name they wish, even if it is not that of a saint. With my students, anticipating that they wanted to pick unique names, I referred them to a complete list of saints dating back to the 1st century. That worked :-)

I considered that, too. My birthday is St. Mary Magdalene's feast.

Our church required a saint's name for the confirmands, unless they used their birth name (which is another issue, of course :-). I wanted to name a daughter Mechtildis - nice German name - but their Dad didn't go for it.
