Episcopal 'Majority': Thwarting Windsor, Walking Apart, Walking with Pagans
Stand Firm ^ | 11/04/2006 | Greg Griffith

As the festivities crank up for Katharine Jefferts Schori's investiture this weekend, a group calling itself "The Episcopal Majority" is also having its first organizational meeting. With an official registration of 130 people, comparisons to the Network's giant organizational meetings in Plano and elsewhere are obviously absurd, but that doesn't mean there's nothing interesting going on there. The "other" Episcopal Majority has uncovered two great bits of info.

The first is that the 130 folks gathering this weekend to plot the takeover of the Episcopal Church (the levers of power for which, by the way, they already took over) has heartily endorsed Bishop Andrew Smith's authorization of same-sex blessings. Episcopal Majority (the good one) also points out that, you know, perhaps this doesn't represent the beliefs of the real, numerical Episcopal majority.

The second is that one of the organization's founders, The Rev. Bill Coats, wrote an email to members and supporters explaining what the group was all about, which is, in Coats' words, “a nation-wide organization/movement specifically designed to defend our church and to combat Windsor."

Our hats are off to Episcopal Majority (the good one) for bringing this to everyone's attention, but here's something I'll bet even they have overlooked:

The group headed by such "majority representatives" as fringe activists Susan Russell and Katie Sherrod, is indeed casting a wider net - but not in the direction they might have hoped. Does this wider net now include true moderates, or even moderate conservatives, in the Episcopal Church? Evangelicals? Might it even even include Christians?

Nope! New to its list of "me-too"-ers is none other than Glyn Ruppe-Melnyk, who also goes by her pagan name "Glispa," and who along with her husband William ("Oakwyse") co-authored a pagan-inspired liturgy for women for the Eipscopal Church's Office of Women's Ministry, that resulted in Oakwyse renouncing his Episcopal orders and becoming a full-time Druid priest. He currently lords over "Llynhydd Grove," his very own Druid community.

If I could make up stuff half this good, I'd be so wealthy a best-selling author I could just write a check for 815 and set things right. Ah, irony.

Are they thinking that the rest of the Communion, including the rest of the Primates who have ECUSA/TEC’s fate in their hands, will see and read.Or perhaps they think they’ll have their shut eye .

I do so love Kamakaze agendas

paddy - too often, people DON’T see and read.  This is where the somewhat disorganized orthodox need a spokesperson...this stuff needs to be communicated to +++Rowan, the GS Primates and around the church.

As soon as KJS is installed as PB, TEC will, in my opinion and in my heart, cease to exist as a Christian body. It will, rather, be “Christian” in much the same was as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is “Christian.” They acknowledge someone named Jesus...but not the Jesus Christ that I accept as my Lord and Saviour. So what TEC does or claims to believe as soon as the PB’s miter is placed upon her head, and afterward, has as much bearing as what the clean-cut young men in white shirts on bicycles do or believe. I grieve...I pray...and I walk away.

My first thought on read this was "antichrist in the temple of God."

That is almost an exact statement of the mental image I have from my first awakening to the situation in PECUSA that led, in a year or two, to my departure.

Hey! Leave us "Mormons" out of this. We have nothing to do with ordaining female bishops or peddling paganism to mainline Christians.

Seriously, the events described in the article have me scratching my head. What are these "Druids" thinking? Do they consider themselves Christians at all?

Not my words, but copy-pasted from the original link. You do know though, don't you, that the LDS' doctrine of God puts it outside of historic Christian orthodoxy?

I suspect not, or not long. Unitarians-Universalists no longer consider themselves Christian. I can't picture many orthodox believers staying or joining the ECUSA, so what's that leave you?

Follow down the link to the apostate Episcopal priest William Melnyk's greetings to the children of Abraham. [shudder]

Of course. And I have participated in many discussions here on the question of who qualifies as a Christian; I do not wish to open that debate again.

I just thought it a stretch to suggest that the various neo-pagans and homosexuals are somehow like Mormons. We Mormons are not be traditional or orthodox Christians, but we consider ourselves Christians nonetheless. We have much more in common with traditional Christians than with Druids, Sodomites, and the like.
