Why should this surprise anyone. Luther was an Augustinian monk and Augustine was Calvin's authoritative source.

Actually, Luther completely rebuked Rome and severed all ties with her. To call him an "Augustinian monk" in the preset tense is misleading. Luther called Rome the "synagogue of Satan". Luther's non-catholic critics are never satisfied though.
