The Epistle and the Gospel for the Traditional liturgy for the Fourteenth Sunday After Pentecost focuses on the fact that we cannot serve two masters. Those two masters this week are namely the flesh and the spirit. The spirit, or grace, given to us by the Holy Ghost, inclines us to supernatural and holy things. The flesh, or man with his bad and carnal instincts, make us commit all manner of sins.

The Epistle and Gospel teach Christian people to attend to their temporal interests without exaggerated preoccupation, for such anxiety offends God Who is our Father in Heaven.

Saint Nicholas of Tolentino from central Italy, received his name because he was born after his parents had made a pilgrimage to the tomb of Saint Nicholas of Bari. He is one of the glories of the Hermits of St. Augustine. His life is remarkable because of the great devotion which he showed to the mystery of the Christ. He had impressed upon his body the stigmata of Christ. He is represented holding a lily, because he was always a model of innocence and purity. His feast dates from the time of Pope Sixtus V. Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat, and the body more than the raiment? Behold the birds of the air for they neither sow nor do they reap, nor gather into barns, and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are you not of much more value than they? In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Why is what Holy Mother Church has always taught on the truths of Christ being undermined? Jesus says, "No Man can serve two masters" and yet John Paul II seemingly thinks otherwise. How else does one explain or rationalize what the modernists' pope said during his most recent trip to Lourdes?

Note: In Father Louis Campbell's homily for the Fourteenth Sunday After Pentecost, he points to the fact that we cannot put our hopes or trust in man for, as evident from the actions of the post-conciliar church in sync with the world, the things of God come secondary to the things of man. It is a barometer today that Catholics were not shocked by the heretical words uttered by John Paul II in mid-August in upholding the Masonic Creed of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. So dumbed down have so many become that error can be trumpeted as truth and few blink. Today's Gospel warns against serving mammon for Jesus clearly states "No man can serve two masters" and those who try, well, pray for them and pray for the Social Kingship of Christ to materialize in God's time as we are encouraged to seek a devout life devoid of the thorns and thistles growing up on unstable ground that threaten to choke the life out of the modern church and society. We have Christ's promise that those who build their house upon the rock and believe in Him, keeping His commandments, shall not perish. Father leaves us with this strong ray of faith, hope and love in his [homily] today.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that those who believe in Him may not perish, but may have life everlasting" ( Blessed Apostle Saint John 3:16 ). These inspired words from the Gospel of Blessed Apostle Saint John speak of Jesus Christ, Who came to us as Love Incarnate, the sinless Lamb of God, born of the Holy Virgin Mary. He is Divine Wisdom, Divine Benevolence, Shepherd and Guardian of our souls. There is nothing that He does not do for us, and without Him we can do nothing. How can we be untrue to Him, Who is Truth itself, and Whose word is truth, we who were marked for His service at our baptism?

Yet the world did not know Him and His own refused to accept Him when He came. Jesus tells us why in today's Gospel: "No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will stand by the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon" ( Blessed Apostle Saint Matthew 6:24 ). The religious authorities of His time, attempting to serve both God and pagan Rome, ended up saying "We have no king but Caesar" ( Blessed Apostle Saint John 19:15 ). Already in servitude to the devil, the world is unable to see Jesus Christ as anything but an ordinary man with ordinary human faults, or at best as a religious founder like Moses or Mohammed.

Our beloved Savior is once more being mocked, scourged, and crucified, as those who occupy the "seats of the mighty" bear nothing but contempt for God's only-begotten Son. [Catholic] observers in Europe speak of "a creeping attempt to stamp out [Catholicism]," and note that the EU constitution makes no mention of a responsibility towards God. [Catholicism] is vanishing from the public arena, whereas a "democratic" religion recognizing no higher authority is taking its place ( www.assistnews.net ).

There is even a move at the UN to reform the Gregorian Calendar, which was instituted by papal decree in the year of Our Lord, 1582: "The United Nations, which has a finger in every global pie, and ambitions to take over the World Internet, is inching its way towards calendar reform…the Gregorian Calendar is irksome to New Agers because the whole world marks time based on the Birth of Jesus Christ. And as far as the occultist UN is concerned, that will never do" ( Judi McLeod, Canadafreepress.com, August 27, 2004 ).

Unfortunately, our own religious leaders are not immune from the temptation to serve two masters. We have previously noted that prominent Cardinals, speaking of Vatican II, said that it represented "1789 in the Church," meaning that the principles of the French Revolution were now endorsed by the Catholic Church. Now, something to cause "shock and awe" within the Church, we heard this affirmed by the reputed pontiff, John Paul II, speaking at his trip to the Lourdes Shrine, as quoted by Mr. Atila Sinke Guimarães:

"'With respect for the responsibilities and competences of all, the Catholic Church desires to offer society a specific contribution towards the building of a world in which the great ideals of liberty, equality and fraternity can form the basis of social life, in the tireless pursuit and promotion of the common good' ( Holy See website, official English translation and ZENIT, 8-16-04 )."


Noting that the motto of the French Revolution, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, represented by the Masonic symbol of compass and square encompassing the letter G, and called "the three indispensable jewels of a Lodge" ( www.freemasonrywatch.org/deceptions.html), had been condemned in various papal documents dating from 1791 to 1920, Mr. Guimarães states:

"The direct opposition of Paul VI and John Paul II to the previous Pontifical Magisterium on this topic is not news. The news is that now JPII claims that the mission of the Catholic Church is to establish a society based on the revolutionary notions of liberty, equality and fraternity. It is a gigantic step taken. It is equivalent to saying that the torch of the Revolution has passed to ecclesiastic hands, and that it should be held aloft by Church representatives. It confirms that the Conciliar Church is the vanguard of the Revolution. It represents a complete inversion of the mission of the Catholic Church." ( www.traditioninaction.org ).

"The Conciliar Church is the vanguard of the Revolution." Listen to the revolutionaries boast: "We had struggled for a century and a half to bring our opinions to prevail with the Church and had not succeeded. Finally, there came Vatican II and we triumphed. From then on the propositions and principles of liberal Catholicism have been definitively and officially accepted by Holy Church" ( Marcel Prelot, as quoted by John Vennari in The Permanent Instruction of the Alta Vendita: A Masonic Blueprint for the Subversion of the Catholic Church, Tan Books ).


This, of course, refers to the Conciliar Church. The Church in her true essence could never approve or accept anything contrary to the Gospels or to her own Sacred Tradition. Some may see some good in "getting along" with the new order established by the secular humanist revolutionaries, but at what a cost - God's intended order, in which His Divine Son, Jesus Christ is recognized as King of all nations, is sacrificed for the sake of a worldly "peace" which can end only in enslavement and destruction for all. Christ the King is betrayed.

We cannot remain indifferent. It is clear that we must now rush to the support of Christ the King. Those who do not choose to follow Christ will find themselves following the devil's standard. Christ our King is in need, in particular, of loyal and obedient subjects who will carry out His will on a daily basis, following Him wherever He may lead. Let no one say that he or she is not worthy enough, not clever enough, not learned enough, not important enough, to serve. He wants YOU!

The soldier of Christ cannot survive in these times without a profound personal devotion to Him, marked by an intimate knowledge of His life in the Holy Gospels. Ponder His life in the mysteries of the Rosary, practice the devotion to the Sacred Heart, to the Child Jesus, or to the Holy Face. Above all, do not try to serve two masters, and give up whatever is displeasing to Him.

"If thy eye is an occasion of sin to thee, pluck it out!" says Jesus (Blessed Apostle Saint Mark 9:46 ).

For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that those who believe in Him may not perish, but may have life everlasting" (Blessed Apostle Saint John 3:16 ).

Christ the King WILL triumph! Long live Christ the King [ in the hearts of mankind! ]

"Grace be with all those who have a love unfailing for our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen." ( Ephesians 6:24 ).

I wonder how ONE Sunday Mass per week, IN LATIN, would go for parishes in the world. I sure would like it. It could be an early-bird Mass or a special afternoon Mass.

I wonder if that kind of thing acceptable or prohibited.
I always forget to ask our parish priests when I see them.
